E. Bruce Nauman
E. Bruce Nauman (1937–2009) was a professor of chemical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He obtained his B.S. degree in nuclear engineering from Kansas State University, a M.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Tennessee, and a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Leeds. He joined RPI in 1981 as chair of the department of chemical engineering, after a career in research and development with the Xerox Corporation and Union Carbide Corporation. During the course of his tenure he oversaw thirty-two doctoral students. He died on May 24, 2009, after a battle with lung cancer. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute () (RPI) is a private research university in Troy, New York, with an additional campus in Hartford, Connecticut. A third campus in Groton, Connecticut closed in 2018. RPI was established in 1824 by Stephen Van Rensselaer and Amos Eaton for the "application of science to the common purposes of life" and is the oldest technological university in the English-speaking world and the Western Hemisphere. Built on a hillside, RPI's campus overlooks the city of Troy and the Hudson River, and is a blend of traditional and modern architecture.
