E-flux Journal
e-flux is a publishing platform and archive, artist project, curatorial platform, and e-mail service founded in 1998. The arts news digests, events, exhibitions, schools, journal, books, and art projects produced and/or disseminated by e-flux describe strains of critical discourse surrounding contemporary art, culture, and theory internationally. Its monthly publication, ''e-flux journal'', has produced essays commissioned since 2008 about cultural, political, and structural paradigms that inform contemporary artistic production. History In November 1998, curators Regine Basha and Christoph Gerozisses, along with artist Anton Vidokle organized the group exhibition ''The Best Surprise is No Surprise'' at the Holiday Inn in Chinatown, Manhattan. Museum Of Modern Art (Ljubljana)
The Museum of Modern Art ( sl, Moderna galerija) in Ljubljana, Slovenia, is the central museum and gallery of the Slovenian art works from the 20th and 21st centuries. History Established by decree of the government of the People's Republic of Slovenia on 30 December 1947, and officially opened to the public on 3 January 1948, it houses a permanent collection of 21st century Slovenian art as well as art from foreign artists. Its central building was designed by Edvard Ravnikar and was built in 1948. In addition, it acts as a place for: debate, documentation, education, research and study, increasing the presence of art for the wider public. Joseph Grigely
Joseph Grigely (born December 16, 1956) is an American visual artist and scholar. His work is primarily conceptual and engages a variety of media forms including sculpture, video, and installations. Grigely was included in two Whitney Biennials (2000, 2014), and is also a Guggenheim Fellow. He lives and works in Chicago, where he is Professor of Visual and Critical Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Early life and education Grigely grew up in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. He was deafened at the age of 10 when he fell down a hill while playing " King on the Mountain" with friends. He studied English literature at Saint Anselm College in Goffstown, New Hampshire, where he received a BA magna cum laude in 1978. Andrea Büttner
Andrea Büttner (born 1972) is a German artist. She works in a variety of media including woodcuts, reverse glass paintings, sculpture, video, and performance. She creates connections between art history and social or ethical issues, with a particular interest in notions of poverty, shame, vulnerability and dignity, and the belief systems that underpin them. Büttner has exhibited in both Europe and North America. Currently, she lives and works in both London and Frankfurt am Main. Marc Bijl
Marc Bijl (Leerdam, 7 July 1970) is a Dutch artist who lives and works in Berlin. His works are based upon social issues and their use of symbols and rules. This can result in interventions in the public space, sculptures or installations that undermine or underline this perception of the world. Biography From 1992 until 1997 Marc Bijl studied at the Royal Academy of Art & Design in 's-Hertogenbosch. In 1996 he studied for a year at Glasgow School of Art. Luis Berríos-Negrón
Luis Berríos-Negrón (born 15 May 1971 in San Juan, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican artist working with sculpture and installation, in public and environmental art. He has an independent practice, as well as is the founder of the Anxious Prop art collective and the Paramodular environmental design group. Berríos-Negrón lives and works in Berlin since 2006. Martha Rosler (born 1943) is an American artist. She is a conceptual artist who works in photography and photo text, video, installation, sculpture, and performance, as well as writing about art and culture. Rosler's work is centered on everyday life and the public sphere, often with an eye to women's experience. Recurrent concerns are the media and war, as well as architecture and the built environment, from housing and homelessness to places of passage and systems of transport.
