E-Pro
"E-Pro" is the opening track on Beck's 2005 album ''Guero''. It was released as the lead single from the album in March 2005. The song was Beck's second number 1 on the Modern Rock chart and his first in eleven years. Beck used the rhythm track of the Beastie Boys' "So What'cha Want" as a sample in "E-Pro". Both of those songs are featured in the video game '' Rock Band 2''. Music video The music video for the song was created by Shynola. It is set in a computer-animated wireframe environment, where Beck rises from a grave and digs up a dog, only to be pursued by skeletal zombies. He escapes on what appears to be a bike, the wheels of which turn into legs and climb buildings. Near the middle of the video, his head is knocked off and is washed in a washing machine and fished out of a river, only to be shot back onto his neck via cannon. ''Guero'' is the ninth studio album by American musician Beck, released on March 29, 2005, by Interscope Records. It was produced with John King and Mike Simpson of the Dust Brothers, who had worked with Beck on his 1996 album ''Odelay'', as well as Tony Hoffer. The album was promoted with the singles "E-Pro", "Girl", and "Hell Yes", and debuted at number two on the US ''Billboard'' 200. To date, it is Beck's highest-charting album and had sold over 868,000 copies in the United States as of July 2008. It received positive reviews from critics. Background ''Güero'' (pron. IPA wero means "blond" in Mexican Spanish, but can also refer to a light-skinned person. MTV described the term as being "Mexican slang for a blond-haired, fair-skinned Caucasian". "Girl" is a song by Beck from his 2005 album ''Guero''. Released as the second single from the album in July 2005, the song peaked at number 8 on the Alternative Songs chart. Shynola are a directing team who have worked across live-action and animation for over twenty years. Gideon Baws, Chris Harding, Richard Kenworthy and Jason Groves formed Shynola while at art college and immediately earned recognition for their inventive work. "Guess I'm Doing Fine" is a single by Beck from his fifth major-label album, '' Sea Change''. Music video The video was directed by Spike Jonze and produced by Emma Wilcockson. Beck is thrown an acoustic guitar by an anonymous person that is not seen in the video. He sits down on what presumably is a white rock next to a tree and handles his guitar. He walks around with his guitar. He sits down to eat a sandwich, and eventually gets back up. His guitar follows him, even though he is not touching it. Beck is now sitting next to a tree again, and starts a conversation with a man playing soccer. The man sits down, and eventually Beck is playing soccer with the rest of the people. Later when he finishes, he continues walking on the sidewalk. Critical reception The song received positive reviews from critics.
