Düsseldorf-Benrath Station
Düsseldorf-Benrath station is about 10 kilometres south of Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof in the Düsseldorf district of Benrath. It is on the Cologne–Duisburg line, and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 3 station. In addition, Düsseldorf Benrath station is served by two Regional-Express services, several city bus services and two Stadtbahn lines. Benrath is the busiest station after Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof in Düsseldorf with about 25,000–30,000 daily entries and exits. On 23 January 1998, the station was heritage-listed by the city of Düsseldorf in the category of technical monuments. Benrath () is a quarter of Düsseldorf in the south of the city, part of Borough 9. It has been a part of Düsseldorf since 1929. Benrath has an area of , and 17,178 inhabitants (2020). History The name Benrath came from the "Knights of Benrode". The settlement was mentioned for the first time in 1222 in a document from Cologne where ''Everhard de Benrode'' is named as an attestor. By the end of the fifth century the area is known as "Rode" or "Roide", which is a cleared area. The castle and the manor of the Benrodes became property of the Counts of Berg by the 13th century. The Rhein-Express is a Regional-Express (RE 5 (RRX)) service, which generally follows the Rhine (german: Rhein) river. It runs daily every hour from 5 am to 9 pm from Wesel via Oberhausen, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Bonn, Remagen and Andernach to Koblenz, in the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. Urdenbach is an urban quarter of Düsseldorf, part of Borough 9. It is located in the south of the city, next to the neighboring town Monheim am Rhein and bordered by the river Rhine.
