Dutee Wilcox Flint
Dutee Wilcox Flint (December 19, 1882 – March 31, 1961) was a Rhode Island state senator and business magnate in the Rhode Island and Connecticut area. Business career Flint was primarily invested in the automobile industry, but also owned a number of radio stations, including current WPRO, and the Dutee W. Flint Oil Company. By the beginning of the 1930s, however, he was not the owner of many of these assets; the Dutee W. Flint Oil Company was sold to Socony in 1929, and radio station WDWF (future WPRO) was sold to Cherry & Webb Broadcasting in 1931. Rhode Island Senate
The Rhode Island Senate is the upper house of the Rhode Island General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Rhode Island, the lower house being the Rhode Island House of Representatives. It is composed of 38 Senators, each of whom is elected to a two-year term. Rhode Island is one of the 14 states where its upper house serves at a two-year cycle, rather than the normal four-year term as in most states. There is no limit to the number of terms that a Senator may serve. The Rhode Island Senate meets at the Rhode Island State Capitol in Providence. WPRO (AM)
WPRO (630 AM) is a commercial radio station in Providence, Rhode Island. It is owned by Cumulus Media, broadcasting a talk radio format, simulcast on co-owned 99.7 WEAN-FM. The studios for WPRO and other Cumulus Providence stations are on Wampanoag Road in East Providence, at the Salty Brine Broadcast Center, named after WPRO's longtime morning host. WPRO is powered at 5,000 watts, non-directional by day. But to protect other stations on 630 AM from interference, at night it uses a directional antenna with a two-tower array. The transmitter is co-located with the studios in East Providence. Programming Much of WPRO's weekday lineup is made up of local hosts. Mobil is a petroleum brand owned and operated by American oil and gas corporation ExxonMobil. The brand was formerly owned and operated by an oil and gas corporation of the same name, which itself merged with Exxon to form ExxonMobil in 1999. A direct descendant of Standard Oil, Mobil was originally known as the Standard Oil Company of New York (shortened to Socony) after Standard Oil was split into 34 different entities in a 1911 Supreme Court decision. The Ford Model T is an automobile that was produced by Ford Motor Company from October 1, 1908, to May 26, 1927. It is generally regarded as the first affordable automobile, which made car travel available to middle-class Americans. The relatively low price was partly the result of Ford's efficient fabrication, including assembly line production instead of individual handcrafting.
