History The Dutch Reformed Church of Zwartsluis was constructed in 1604, after the previous medieval church was torn down in 1581. Some of the original structural material was used to fortify the new church. The building was first renovated in 1649 with a second pillar on the north side, then again in 1743 by expanding two pillars eastwards. Hervormde Kerk of Zwartsluis was renovated in 1865, whereby the columns between the pillars were split away and the two barrel-formed vaults were supplanted by one enormous put vault with plaster improvements. Zwartsluis is a small city in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Zwartewaterland, at the mouth of the Zwarte Water river and the . History Zwartsluis's history started in the Eighty Years' War (1568–1648): it developed around the Swartersluys fortress, which controlled traffic on the Zwartewater inlet leading to Hasselt and Zwolle. Zwartsluis attracted some trade and a fishing fleet in later centuries. Zwartsluis also served as a consolidation point for the peat-fuel trade, but was surpassed in importance by its neighbours, especially downstream Genemuiden. The Dutch Reformed Church (, abbreviated NHK) was the largest Christian denomination in the Netherlands from the onset of the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century until 1930. It was the original denomination of the Dutch Royal Family and the foremost Protestant denomination until 2004. It was the larger of the two major Reformed denominations, after the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (''Gereformeerde kerk'') was founded in 1892. It spread to the United States, South Africa, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Brazil, and various other world regions through Dutch colonization. A rijksmonument (, ) is a national heritage site of the Netherlands, listed by the agency Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE) acting for the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. At the end of February 2015, the Netherlands had 61,822 listed national heritage sites, of which approximately 1,500 are listed as archaeological sites. History and criteria Until 2012, a place had to be over 50 years old to be eligible for designation. This criterion expired on 1 January 2012. The current legislation governing the monuments is the ''Monumentenwet van 1988'' ("Monument Law of 1988"). Oude Kerk, Amsterdam
The Oude Kerk (English: Old Church) is Amsterdam’s oldest building and youngest art institutes (since 2012). The building was founded circa 1213 and consecrated in 1306 by the bishop of Utrecht with Saint Nicolas as its patron saint. After the Reformation in 1578, it became a Calvinist church, which it remains today. It stands in De Wallen, now Amsterdam's main red-light district. The square surrounding the church is the Oudekerksplein. History By around 1213, a wooden chapel had been erected at the location of today's Oude Kerk. Midwolda
Midwolda () is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Oldambt, about 7 km northwest of Winschoten. Midwolda was a separate municipality until 1990, when it was merged with Scheemda. History The village was first mentioned in 1282 as de Middewalda, and means middle woods. Midwolda is a road village which developed in the Middle Ages at the edge of the former peninsula of Winschoten. The All Saints' Flood of 1570 caused an extension of the Dollart, and the village moved to the south near the dike constructed in 1565. The old church remained behind, however the tower collapsed in 1667, and the church was demolished in 1738. The current Dutch Reformed church was built between 1738 and 1740, and has a tower from 1708. The ''borg'' Ennemaborg might date from before 1391.
