Dureco Singles
Dureco is a Dutch independent record label based in the Netherlands. Over the years many artists and groups such as the Amboina Serenaders, Judy Cheeks, Jules de Corte, De Dijk, Jef Elbers, Gotcha!, Samantha Jones, Ming Luhulima, the Mena Moeria Minstrels, Liz Mitchell, Julian Sas, Luv', Roger Peterson and Rene van Helsdingen have had their work released through Dureco. Background It was founded in 1952 as the Dutch division of the Pelgrims Group. It also had divisions in Belgium and France. By the early 1970s, it was selling 36 million records a year. Through its Sofrason company in France it was selling 22 million records and through Fonior in Belgium, it was selling 8 million. By 1972, it had its own 24-track studio. Its pressing plant had nine album pressing machines with a capacity to press 100,000 albums per week. Strengholt BV, started in 1928 as a publisher of books and magazines, is an international media and entertainment company. Core activities * leasing music rights and the national and international administration of copyrights; * the publication and distribution of (sheet) music both nationally and internationally; * the production, distribution and marketing of audio and visual recordings; * the publication of books, magazines and specials; * the development and realization of media and digital projects. Mena Moeria Minstrels
The Mena Moeria Minstrels were a popular Netherlands based Hawaiian music group. They were made up of mainly Moluccans from the former Dutch East Indies colony. The group was originally led by steel guitarist Rudi Wairata and also featured Joyce Aubrey and Ming Luhulima. They were prolific in their output releasing at least twenty singles in the 1950s. Background The Mena Moeria Minstrels, like their sister group the Amboina Serenaders were under the umbrella of Rudi Wairata. They were in the Hawaiian music bag. In 1951, the line up consisted of Rudi Wairata, Ming Luhulima, Charlie Kuipers, Pariury and Patty. Around 1952, Joyce Aubrey joined the group. Omega (record Label)
Omega is a Dutch record label that released records under Omega and its sub label Omega International from the 1940s though to the 1990s. The distribution was handled by Dureco. In Belgium, its releases were handled by Fonior. Some of the artists to have their work released on the label in the early 1960s include The Dutch Cocktail Trio. Rene Van Helsdingen
Rene Peter Onno Rubiono van Helsdingen (born 25 February 1957) is a Dutch pianist and composer. He studied classical music with Komter Loeber in Blaricum in the Netherlands from 1962–72. Then he studied jazz music with Terry Trotter and Lazlo Cser in Los Angeles in 1979. His earliest influences include Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner and Bill Evans. Over the years pianist René has recorded and produced for many different labels, such as Virgin, Timeless, WEA, Dureco, Zebra Acoustic, Pacific Music, Turning Point records, Munich Records, demajors Independent Music Industry Jakarta and his own labels: Relukreul records, and Helsdingen Music, The Netherlands. Roger Francis Peterson (born 1 December 1980) is an Aruban-Dutch musician. He is known as the lead vocalist for the now-defunct rock band Intwine, which was active from 2001 to 2010. He also was a competitor on the first season of Dutch talent show '' Idols''. Biography Early life Roger Peterson was born in Savaneta to an Aruba-born father and a Curaçao-born mother. He grew up in the area of Savaneta and San Nicolaas. He has an elder brother named Ryan. At the age of six Peterson sang in a local church choir. Luv'
Luv' were a Dutch girl group that scored a string of hit records in Continental Europe (Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway and Finland) as well as Israel, South Africa, Rhodesia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Argentina and Mexico in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Ming Luhulima
Ming Luhulima, also known as Lou Lima was a Netherlands-based recording artist originally from the Maluku Islands, which were part of the Dutch East Indies. He was closely associated with Rudi Wairata during his career. Luhulima was a member of the Amboina Serenaders and the Mena Moeria Minstrels, and also led the Krontjong Ensemble Pantja Warna. Background Luhulima, a Moluccan musician became a well-known artist in the Netherlands, and like George de Fretes had gained fame there. Gotcha! (funk Band)
Gotcha! is a Dutch funk band founded in 1989; their music, a mixture of sixties-trip-rock with funk and hip-hop, is influenced by George Clinton.
