Durban Youth Council
The Durban Youth Council (DYC) is a non-profit, community service-based youth organization located in Durban, South Africa. The DYC aims to empower the youth of Durban through service to the community. The organization has been operational since 1966 and was initially a project of the Junior Chamber South Africa (Durban Chapter). The Council is composed of over 130 grade 11 students from more than 30 schools in the Durban area. The Council is run by a democratic hierarchy of student and governed by an adult steering committee. The Durban Youth Council is not recognized as the official youth city council of Durban About The DYC provides a learning platform for learners to develop their leadership qualities, through actively managing and participating in community based outreach projects. KwaZulu-Natal
KwaZulu-Natal (, also referred to as KZN and known as "the garden province") is a province of South Africa that was created in 1994 when the Zulu bantustan of KwaZulu ("Place of the Zulu" in Zulu) and Natal Province were merged. Durban High School
Durban High School is an all-boys public school in Durban, South Africa. DHS opened its doors in 1866 in two rooms and with seven pupils in Smith Street. From there it moved to a disused granary in Cato Square in 1880, just after the Zulu War, and then to the Old Hospital on the foreshore. In 1895, it moved up onto the healthier Berea to its present site, where it flourished. The ten acres plot was granted to the School by the Durban Town Council. The first enrolled student was a boy called Eben Coates and he was also the first Head-boy. There is also a related primary school: Durban Preparatory High School. Westville Boys' High School, often referred to as WBHS or "boys high", is a semi-private high school for boys located in Westville, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Early history The year 2022 marks the 67th anniversary of WBHS as a high school. The roots of the school can be traced back to 1861, when German immigrant farmers operated a school from a nine by four metre wattle-and-daub structure sited on the main Durban-to- Pietermaritzburg road. Thomas More College is an independent, co-educational day school located in Kloof, near Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. History Thomas More College opened on 1 February 1962 with 55 pupils, all boys. Co-education was not to come for another 14 years. The founder and headmaster was Robin Savory, who wanted to start a Catholic School run by Catholic laity. In this he had the support of Archbishop Denis Hurley.
