Dungu Territory
Dungu is a territory in the Haut-Uele Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The administrative center is the town of Dungu, which lies on both sides of the Uele River. The territory is divided into the Ndoromo, Maringindo and Wandu chiefdoms. Starting in September 2008, the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) conducted a series of attacks on civilians in Dungu territory. By December that year there are more than 83,000 Internally Displaced Persons in the territory. An attack on Dungu city on 1 November 2008 caused 57,000 of its inhabitants to flee. The next month some had returned to the south of the city, but the northern section was deserted. As of December 2008, the center of Dungu was isolated. Lingala Language
Lingala (Ngala) (Lingala: ''Lingála'') is a Bantu language spoken in the northwest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the northern half of the Republic of the Congo, in their capitals, Kinshasa and Brazzaville, and to a lesser degree in Angola, the Central African Republic and southern South Sudan. Lingala has 15–20 million native speakers and about 25 million second-language speakers, for a total of 40–45 million speakers. Dungu, Democratic Republic Of The Congo
Dungu ( ) is a town in Haut-Uele Province located at the confluence of the Dungu and Kibali Rivers where they join to form the Uele River, south of the Garamba National Park. Dungu's terrain is wooded savannah, and its climate is tropical. It is the principal town in Dungu Territory. It has a hospital, nursing school, high school, Internet cafe, and a cathedral—as it is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ndoromo–Dungu. The town is divided into five main neighbourhoods: Uye (south), Mussa (south center), Ngirimo (center), Bamokandi and R.D.C border Town of Nabiapai to the (north) towards Yambio. Uele River
The Uele, also known by the phonetically identical Uélé, Ouélé, or Welle River, is a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Course The Uele forms at Dungu, at the confluence of the Dungu and Kibali rivers, which both originate in the mountains near Lake Albert. Combined these rivers flow west for about , until the Uele joins the Mbomou River at Yakoma. Main tributaries to the Uele river are the Bomokandi River (left side) and Uere River (right side). The Uele–Mbomou confluence at Yakoma marks the origin of the Ubangi River, which in turn flows into the Congo River. The Uele is the longest tributary of the Ubangi. Wandu Chiefdom
Hwando () is a mountain fortress of the ancient Korean kingdom of Goguryeo, built to protect Goguryeo's second capital, Gungnae. It is located in present-day Ji'an city of the province of Jilin, China. The fortress is located 2.5 km west of Ji'an, Jilin province in Northeast China, near the North Korean border. Lord's Resistance Army
The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), also known as the Lord's Resistance Movement, is a rebel group and heterodox Christian group which operates in northern Uganda, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Originally known as the United Holy Salvation Army and Uganda Christian Army/Movement, its stated goals include establishment of multi-party democracy, ruling Uganda according to the Ten Commandments, and Acholi nationalism. In practice "the LRA is not motivated by any identifiable political agenda, and its military strategy and tactics reflect this". It appears to largely function as a personality cult of its leader Joseph Kony, a self-declared prophet whose leadership has earned him the nickname "Africa's David Koresh".
