Dundurn is a town of 647 residents surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Dundurn No. 314, RM of Dundurn No. 314, in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Saskatchewan. Dundurn is located on Saskatchewan Highway 11, Highway 11, or Louis Riel Trail, in central Saskatchewan, about 42 km south of Saskatoon. As well as being an agricultural town, it is also a bedroom community for both Saskatoon and CFD Dundurn, Canadian Forces Detachment Dundurn, which is located north of town and is a detachment of 17 Wing Winnipeg. The town is situated between Highway 11 and the north end of Brightwater Lake, with Swamp Lake directly north of town. Dundurn is run under a mayor-council form of civic governance. CFD Dundurn
Canadian Forces Detachment Dundurn (also CFD Dundurn) is a Canadian Forces facility located near the town of Dundurn, Saskatchewan and approximately 40 km south of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan along the east bank of Brightwater Creek. Camp Dundurn In 1858 the area that now forms Camp Dundurn was used as a camping grounds for Metis hunters. Much of the early construction work was done in the 1930s as a Unemployment Relief Camp was set up to build the base facilities. This included the construction of an airstrip and 45 permanent buildings along with roads, railway spurs and several bridges. The area was used by Canadian Army units as early as 1928 when it was organized as Dundurn Military Camp (also Camp Dundurn). During World War II the Royal Canadian Air Force constructed a bombing range on the base and the Canadian Women's Army Corps established one of its first units at Camp Dundurn. Dakota Dunes Casino
Dakota Dunes Resort & Casino is a First Nations casino situated on Whitecap Dakota First Nation land south of Saskatoon along Saskatchewan Highway 219. The 84,000 sq. ft facility opened in 2007, and includes a casino, restaurant, multi-purpose rooms, and an 18-hole golf course. In September 2018, construction began on a new $38 million, 155-room hotel on the resort site, which opened as the Dakota Dunes Resort in October 2020. Blackstrap Lake is a man-made reservoir in central Saskatchewan, Canada, south of Saskatoon in the rural municipality of Dundurn No. 314, Saskatchewan, Dundurn No. 314. The lake was created as a reservoir in 1967, as part of the Saskatoon South East Water Supply System. Blackstrap Lake has an area of (14.4 km x 0.8-1.2 km at a depth of 5.14 m) and is generally used to support irrigation, and the industrial and municipal water supply. The Blackstrap Coulee, or Valley, is an ancient spillway created by the melting of the Wisconsin glaciation, Wisconsin glacier. Two formerly small and marshy lakes, Theresa Lake and Blackstrap Lake, were in the area now covered by the reservoir. Hanley is a town in Division No. 11 in Saskatchewan, Canada. It is located 65 km south of Saskatoon. The town's population in 2011 was 522. It was named after Hanley, Staffordshire, England, by early founders. It is also the seat for the rural municipality of Rosedale. History Hanley was founded in 1902 and incorporated as a town in 1906. It is a typical small agricultural community in the grain-growing region of Southern Saskatchewan. The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728.
