Duncan McKenzie (writer)
Duncan McKenzie (born 8 November 1960 in Plymouth, England) is a Canadian TV writer and producer. He attended the University of Toronto in the late 1970s and Sheridan College in Oakville for Media Arts from 1982–1983. From 1998 to 2003, he was the writer and story editor on 108 episodes of the satirical comedy series '' History Bites''. From 2003 to 2005, he was the executive producer and writer for 318 episodes of the soap opera '' Train 48''. In 2008, he was the writer and consulting producer on '' That's So Weird'', a youth sketch comedy show. In 2009, he started the satirical comedy website '' The Daily Week''. Plymouth () is a port city and unitary authority in South West England. It is located on the south coast of Devon, approximately south-west of Exeter and south-west of London. ''History Bites'' is a television series on the History (Canada), History Television network that ran from 1998 to 2004. Created by Rick Green (comedian), Rick Green, ''History Bites'' explored what would be on television if the medium had been around for the last 5,000 years of human history. Typically, a significant historical event was chosen and mock news, sports and entertainment programming was created around it. Each episode included several segments of Green offering historical background of the episode's chosen era and otherwise showed frequent shifts from one comedy sketch to another (as well as returning to certain sketches repeatedly) representing a channel-surfing viewer who never watched any one sketch for more than a few minutes at a time. ''Train 48'' was a Canadian improvised soap opera, broadcast on Global Television Network and CH from 2003 until 2005. ''Train 48'' was based on the format of an Australian television program called '' Going Home''. History The show was broadcast daily, and recorded the same day. It took place in a railway car of a GO Train on Lakeshore West line returning from Toronto to the suburb of Burlington, Ontario, and followed the lives of 12 daily commuters through their interactions. Although major plot lines were written in advance, much of the dialogue was improvised by the actors.
