Dunamanagh
Donemana or Dunnamanagh (named after the townland of Dunnamanagh, ) is a small village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is 7 miles or 11 kilometres north-east of Strabane, on the banks of the Burn Dennett and at the foothills of the Sperrins. It is the largest of the thirteen villages in the Strabane District Council area and had a population of 593 in the 2001 Census. Other anglicised spellings of its name include Dun mana hand Don mana h History The village was established in the early 17th century as part of the Plantation of Ulster, instigated by James I in 1609. Land in the area was granted to John Drummond who established the village; building a bawn (an enclosed, fortified farmyard, designed as a place of refuge for settlers in case of attack), 10 wicker-work houses, and a watermill for grinding corn. Clann na nGael Aughabrack Dunamanagh G.A.C., is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in north County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, with its home grounds based at Aughabrack and Dunamanagh. History The Club was formed in 1996 from an amalgamation of Dunamanagh and Aughabrack as Donagheady Gaels; renamed Clann na nGael Aughabrack Dunamanagh G.A.C. in 1997. Stephen O'Neill
Stephen O'Neill (born 19 November 1980) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer from Strabane, Northern Ireland, who played at senior level for the Tyrone county team. He won three All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals, two All-Ireland Under 21 Football Championship, Under 21 medals, and a All-Ireland Minor Football Championship, Minor medal. He was the 2005 All Stars Footballer of the Year, and won List of All Stars Awards winners (football), All Stars Awards in 2001, 2005 and 2009. His style of play is quite traditional as a full forward, often getting on the end of passes, and scoring with his preferred left foot. It's his superior physical strength that sets him apart from his peers, coupled with his agility on the ball, making him very difficult to mark. Allan Bresland
Allan Bresland (born 16 August 1945) is a former Unionist politician from Northern Ireland representing the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). Bresland was a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for West Tyrone from 2007 to 2011. He was educated at Ballylaw Primary School, is a retired lorry driver with the Water Service and was first elected to Strabane District Council in 1993, representing the Glenelly area. He is a member of various bodies including the Drainage Council of Northern Ireland and is current chair of the Western Group Environmental Health Committee. He is also Chairman of North West Passage, which promotes tourism in the area and is a member of the District Policing Partnership in Strabane. Donemana Railway Station
Donemana railway station served Donemana, County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. It was opened by the Donegal Railway Company on 6 August 1900. It closed on 1 January 1955. Accident The station was the site of a fatal accident after 9 p.m. on Sunday 7 September 1913, when an approaching train from Derry failed to slow down and stop. One person was killed and several injured, some seriously. One of the small group of passengers travelling from Derry, Margaret McCay, wife of farmer John McCay, from the townland of Gortileck between the villages of Dunamanagh and Artigarvan, was five months pregnant and suffered a mild concussion in the accident. She and the unborn child survived, with the safe arrival of John McCay on 4 January 1914. Brian Dooher
Brian Dooher is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who was a member the senior Tyrone county team between 1995 and 2011. He was appointed co-manager of the Tyrone senior football team in November 2020 alongside Feargal Logan, succeeding Mickey Harte. He won three All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals, five Ulster Senior Football Championship and two National League titles with the county. He has also won three All Star Awards, and six Ulster All-Stars - the joint leader with Kieran McGeeney and Steven McDonnell. Dooher played his club football for Clann na nGael. William Thomas Stuart Porterfield (born 6 September 1984) is an Irish former cricketer and a former captain of the Ireland cricket team.
