Dumbarton F.C.
Dumbarton Football Club is a semi-professional football club in Dumbarton, Scotland. Founded on 23 December 1872, they are one of the oldest football clubs in Scotland. The club plays home games at the Dumbarton Football Stadium next to Dumbarton Castle. They were one of the most successful of the nineteenth century, winning the Scottish Football League in the first two seasons of the competition (the first jointly with Rangers). The club ceased playing in 1901 and did not return to action until 1905. Although at the time it was emphasised that this was a new club, subsequent directives by the SFA and Scottish Combination appear to countermand this, possibly to fast-track the re-formed club into their competitions. Since then, the club have spent the majority of their history outside the top flight, with their last appearance at the top level coming in 1984–85 and the side currently playing in Scottish League Two. Dumbarton Football Stadium
The Dumbarton Football Stadium, commonly known as The Rock, and currently named The moreroom.com Stadium for sponsorship purposes is a stadium in Dumbarton, Scotland, used mostly for football matches; it is the home ground of Dumbarton Football Club. The stadium has a capacity of , and was built in 2000 after the move away from Dumbarton's former home, Boghead Park. It was built on part of the site formerly occupied by Denny's shipyard. The stadium is 5–10 minutes walk from Dumbarton East railway station on the North Clyde Line. Dumbarton have the third smallest stadium in the SPFL. History The stadium has just one stand, officially opened on Saturday 2 December 2000 prior to the visit of Elgin City; a match which ended 3–0 to the Sons. Ally Love (footballer)
Alistair Love (born 22 August 1991) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a winger for Scottish League Two side Dumbarton. Love has previously played for St Mirren, East Stirlingshire, Annan Athletic, Albion Rovers, Brechin City and Clyde, as well as Stenhousemuir on loan. Career Love began his career with St Mirren, where he also spent a loan spell at Stenhousemuir. On 13 May 2011 it was announced that Love would be one of 10 players leaving St. Mirren at the end of the 2010–11 season. In July 2011 he signed a one-month contract with East Stirlingshire. David Wilson (footballer, Born 1994)
David Wilson (born 6 September 1994) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Dumbarton. Career Wilson joined Partick Thistle in the summer of 2011, and made his senior debut for the club on 1 January 2014. He signed a new one-year contract in June 2014. He signed on loan for Stranraer in January 2017. Wilson left Firhill in May 2017, after his contract with the club was not renewed. After leaving Thistle, Wilson signed a one-year deal with Scottish Championship club Dumbarton on 26 June 2017. He scored his first senior goal for the Sons, in a 2–1 Scottish Challenge Cup victory over Connah's Quay Nomads. Kalvin Orsi (born 15 April 1997) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a winger for Scottish League Two side Dumbarton. Orsi, who began his career with Aberdeen's youth sides, has previously played for St Mirren, Queen's Park, Greenock Morton and Brechin City. Career Orsi began his career in Aberdeen's youth sides, playing with the club for six seasons, without making an appearance for the senior side. Stuart Carswell (born 9 September 1993) is a Scottish professional footballer, who plays as a midfielder for Scottish League Two side Dumbarton. Carswell has previously played for Motherwell, St Mirren, as well as Icelandic side Keflavík. Gregor Buchanan (born 31 March 1990) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a defender for Scottish League Two club Dumbarton where he is the club's vice-captain. After progressing through Falkirk's youth academy, Buchanan played for Scottish Junior clubs Armadale Thistle and Bathgate Thistle. Buchanan later played for Airdrieonians, Dunfermline Athletic, Dumbarton (first spell), St Mirren, Livingston, Greenock Morton, Falkirk and Queen of the South Early and personal life Buchanan is originally from Falkirk in Stirlingshire. Gregg Wylde (born 23 March 1991) is a Scottish footballer who plays for Dumbarton in Scottish League Two. He started his career with Rangers, but voluntarily left the club in March 2012, soon after it entered administration. Supporters' Trust
In British sports, a supporters' trust is a formal, democratic and not-for-profit organisation of fans who attempt to strengthen the influence of supporters over the running of the club they support. There are over 140 supporters' trusts across England, Wales and Scotland and the majority of these are affiliated to football clubs, however trusts also exist for Rugby league and Rugby Union clubs. With government and with cross-party support, Supporters Direct was established to encourage the formation of supporters' trusts to promote democratic supporter ownership. West Dunbartonshire ( sco, Wast Dunbairtonshire; gd, Siorrachd Dhùn Breatann an Iar, ) is one of the 32 local government council areas of Scotland. The area lies to the west of the City of Glasgow and contains many of Glasgow's commuter towns and villages.
