''Dumb Luck'' is the fourth studio album by American electronic music artist Dntel. It was released through Sub Pop on April 24, 2007. Recorded between 2002 and 2006, it includes vocal contributions from Ed Droste ( Grizzly Bear), Valerie Trebeljahr and Markus Acher (Lali Puna), Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley), Grant Olsen and Sonya Westcott ( Arthur & Yu), Mia Doi Todd, Andrew Broder ( Fog), Conor Oberst ( Bright Eyes), and Christopher and Jennifer Gunst (Mystic Chords of Memory). Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, ''Dumb Luck'' received an average score of 60% based on 22 reviews, indicating "mixed or average reviews". James Scott "Jimmy" Tamborello, also known by his stage name Dntel , is an American electronic music artist and DJ. Aside from his main solo project, Tamborello is also known as a member of the groups The Postal Service, Headset, and Figurine, where he is sometimes cited as James Figurine. Personal life Tamborello's father was a jazz saxophone player, flautist, and a songwriter for many Santa Barbara, California-based bands. His mother, Joyce Menges was an actress who starred in the sitcom '' To Rome with Love'' starring John Forsythe, Kay Medford, and Melanie Fullerton, in 1969, and later in the Walt Disney Productions film '' Now You See Him Now You Don't'', starring Kurt Russell, in 1972. Jenny Lewis
Jennifer Diane Lewis (born January 8, 1976) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actress. She was the lead singer, rhythm guitarist and keyboardist for the indie rock band Rilo Kiley. Lewis gained prominence in the 1980s as a child actress, appearing in the films '' Troop Beverly Hills'' (1989) and '' The Wizard'' (1989) and the television series ''Brooklyn Bridge'' (1991–93). Gudrun Gut
Gudrun Gut (born 20 May 1957) is a German electronic musician, DJ, presenter, music producer and founder of the Monika Enterprise. She grew up in the Lüneburger Heide and moved to West Berlin in 1975, where she studied visual arts at the Hochschule der Künste from 1978 to 1984. She was an early member of Einstürzende Neubauten and a founding member of music groups Mania D, Malaria! and Matador. She is the head of the labels Monika Enterprise and Moabit Musik. She co-presented the Oceanclub weekly radio program in Berlin with Thomas Fehlmann. Her debut solo album, ''I Put a Record On'' was released on 5 February 2007. Music critics saluted the openness and approachability of the music on the record. Roger O'Donnell
Roger O'Donnell (born 29 October 1955) is an English keyboardist best known for his work with The Cure. O'Donnell has also performed in The Psychedelic Furs, Thompson Twins and Berlin, as well as having an active solo career. Background O'Donnell was born in East London into a musical family, next to the piano in his parents' London home. O'Donnell attended art school but left to pursue a career as a professional musician, with his first paying gig coming in 1976, at Oxford Town Hall backing legendary British pop icon Arthur Brown. Bright Eyes is an American indie rock band founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist Conor Oberst. Conor Mullen Oberst (born February 15, 1980) is an American singer-songwriter best known for his work in Bright Eyes. Fog is an American indie rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 1999. The band is fronted by Andrew Broder, and for a time included Mark Erickson and Tim Glenn.
