Duisburg-Ruhrort–Mönchengladbach Railway
The Duisburg-Ruhrort–Mönchengladbach railway is a historically significant, but now partly abandoned line in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The line was built by the Ruhrort-Crefeld District Gladbach Railway Company (german: Ruhrort–Crefeld−Kreis Gladbach Eisenbahngesellschaft, RCG), founded in 1847, and is one of the oldest lines in Germany, opened in 1849 and 1851. The greater part of the route, along with the western section of the Ruhr line of the Rhenish Railway Company (''Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft'', RhE), forms the Duisburg–Mönchengladbach line, one of the main line in Germany’s lower Rhine region, connecting the stations of Duisburg and Mönchengladbach. Lower Left Rhine Railway
The Left Lower Rhine line (german: Linksniederrheinische Strecke) is a main line on the left (western) bank of the Rhine in the lower Rhine region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, running from Cologne to Cleves (Kleve) and formerly via Kranenburg to Nijmegen in the Netherlands. The Cologne–Krefeld section of the line was opened by the ''Cöln-Crefeld Railway Company'' in 1855 and is one of the oldest lines in Germany. The 55 km-long section from Cologne via Neuss to Krefeld is electrified and continuously multi-track. Aachen–Mönchengladbach Railway
The Aachen–Mönchengladbach railway is a main line in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is an important link between the Ruhr and Belgium for freight trains and is served by regional passenger trains. The line was built by the Aachen-Düsseldorf-Ruhrort Railway Company and is one of the oldest lines in Germany, which was opened between 1852 and 1854. Route The line begins in Aachen Hauptbahnhof, where it connects with the line from Liège, Belgium and with the line to Cologne. Shortly later is the Aachen Schanz station, opened in 2004. Mönchengladbach Hauptbahnhof (German for ''Mönchengladbach main station'') is a railway station in the city of Mönchengladbach in western Germany. Overview The station is the largest railway station in the city and, along with Rheydt Hbf, one of the two Hauptbahnhof stations in Mönchengladbach. Mönchengladbach is the only city with two stations designated as a Hauptbahnhof on its soil, due to the merger between the cities of Mönchengladbach and Rheydt in the 1970s, and the subsequent reluctance of Deutsche Bundesbahn to rename Rheydt Hauptbahnhof. The Mönchengladbach–Düsseldorf railway is a 24 km long main line on the left (western) bank of the Rhine in the Lower Rhine region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It has at least two tracks with continuous overhead electrification. Neuss–Viersen Railway
The Neuss–Viersen railway is a mostly disused railway line in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It formerly ran from Neuss via Kaarst and Neersen to Viersen, but now ends in Kaarst. Most of the line still in operation is a single track and non-electrified branch line. A shorter section, however, is operated as part of the Duisburg-Ruhrort–Mönchengladbach line and is a two-track, electrified mainline railway. Viersen station is a station in the city of Viersen in the west of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. History The first Viersen station was opened on 5 October 1849 by the Aachen-Düsseldorf-Ruhrort Railway Company (german: Königliche Direction der Aachen-Düsseldorf-Ruhrorter Eisenbahn) as part of its Ruhrort–Gladbach line near Alte Bruchstraße. Viersen–Venlo Railway
The Viersen–Venlo railway is a railway line running from Viersen in Germany to Venlo in the Netherlands. The line was opened in 1866 by the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company. Willich () is a town in the district of Viersen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is 20 km west of Düsseldorf, 14 km north of Mönchengladbach, 10 km south of Krefeld, about 30 kilometres east of the border with the Netherlands and 45 km east of Roermond.
