Duck Down Music Inc is a New York City based record label, talent management, music-marketing, and consulting company founded by Drew "Dru-Ha" Friedman and Kenyatta "Buckshot" Blake in 1995. In Duck Down's 20-year existence, the Company has released over 40 albums and sold more than 3 million collective copies worldwide. David Dallas
David Keith Dallas (born 28 August 1982) is a hip hop artist from New Zealand of Samoan and European descent. Early career Dallas began his rapping career under the name Con Psy as a part of the duo Frontline, a producer and MC group along with producer Nick Maclaren. In 2003 he appeared in Scribe's popular single, ''Not Many – The Remix!''. Frontline released their official debut album 'Borrowed Time', in October 2005. The album won the award for 'Best Urban Album' at the 2006 New Zealand Music Awards. ''Dah Shinin is the debut studio album by American East Coast hip hop duo Smif-N-Wessun. It was released on January 10, 1995 via Wreck/Nervous Records. Recording sessions took place at D&D Studios in New York City. Production was handled by Da Beatminerz. It features guest appearance from the Boot Camp Clik. The album peaked at number 59 on the ''Billboard'' 200. The production is the signature Beatminerz sound which is elevated from their work on Black Moon’s 1993 effort ‘enta da stage’. ''Enta da Stage'' is the debut album by American East Coast hip hop group Black Moon, released on October 19, 1993, through Nervous Records. The album was produced by Black Moon member DJ Evil Dee along with Mr. Walt of Da Beatminerz. ''Enta da Stage'' features the debut of underground hip hop duo Smif-N-Wessun, as well as appearances from Havoc of Mobb Deep and Dru Ha, the co-founder of Duck Down Records. Boogie Down Productions
Boogie Down Productions (BDP) was an American hip hop group originally composed of KRS-One, D-Nice, and DJ Scott La Rock. DJ Scott La Rock was murdered on August 27, 1987, five months after the release of BDP's debut album, '' Criminal Minded''. The name of the group, Boogie Down, derives from a nickname for the South Bronx section of New York City. The group pioneered the fusion of dancehall reggae and hip hop music and their debut LP ''Criminal Minded'' contained frank descriptions of life in the South Bronx during the late 1980s, thus setting the stage for what would eventually become gangsta rap. Kidz In The Hall
Kidz in the Hall is an American hip hop duo from Chicago, Illinois. History Group members Jabari Evans (Naledge) and Michael Aguilar ( Double-0) met in 2000 during a talent show at the University of Pennsylvania. They began recording songs, making demos, and performing at local shows which eventually led to Double-0 and Naledge forming Kidz in the Hall. Double-0 made a connection with Just Blaze through a job he had at T-Mobile. Blaze then aligned himself with the duo and oversaw their debut '' School Was My Hustle''. Kidz in the Hall signed a group deal with Rawkus Records, and released the album in 2006. In early 2007, Kidz in the Hall created a song entitled "Work To Do It" in support of democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, who has ties to Naledge's hometown of Chicago. Jacob Charles Osher, (born June 6, 1982), more popularly known as Jayceeoh, is an American DJ, record producer and Turntablist . He is the founder of label imprint, "Super 7 Records". Biography (2013 - present) His debut original release titled "DAMN," a collaboration with fellow turntablist, DJ Scene, was released on "Fools Gold Records" in November 2013. La Coka Nostra (short LCN) is an American hip hop music, hip hop group composed of DJ Lethal, Danny Boy (rapper), Danny Boy, Ill Bill and Slaine (rapper), Slaine. George Carroll, better known as Slaine, is an American rapper and actor. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, where he spent his childhood and teenage years. Carroll moved to New York City in the mid-1990s, where he adopted the moniker of Slaine and started to rap and record hip-hop. In the early 2000s, Carroll became a growing figure in the Boston hip-hop scene, releasing several mixtapes, and the LP ''Stereotypez'' (2007) with his group Special Teamz. Special Teamz
Special Teamz is an American hip hop group made of Boston rappers Edo G (formerly of Da Bulldogs), Jaysaun (formerly of the Kreators) and Slaine (of La Coka Nostra). All three members are of different racial backgrounds: Edo G is African-American, Jaysaun is mixed Puerto Rican, African-American, and Jewish, and Slaine is Irish-American. In 2005, the group released a self-titled mixtape cd (mixed by DJ Jayceeoh, who also supports Special Teamz live on stage) and a 12" vinyl single, and then went on what was almost a two-year search for a record label. Eventually, Sean Price of Heltah Skeltah engaged a deal signing the group to Duck Down Records. Blue Scholars
Blue Scholars is an American hip hop duo based in Seattle, Washington, created in 2002 while the members, DJ Sabzi (Saba Mohajerjasbi) and MC Geologic (George Quibuyen), were students at University of Washington. The name "Blue Scholars" is a play on the term " blue collar," an idiom for workers who often earn hourly wages for manual labor. Their music and lyrics frequently focus on struggles between socioeconomic classes, challenging authority and youth empowerment.
