Dubai International School (DIS) ( ar, مدرسة دبي الدولية) is an International American private school in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The school has two branches in Dubai located in Al Garhoud and Al Quoz and serves levels from Preschool (Kindergarten), Elementary school, Middle school, and High school. The school hold both a United Arab Emirates Ministry of education educational permit and a United States (California state standard) educational permit. History Dubai International school was founded on 1 December 1985 in Garhoud, Dubai. A second branch of the school was opened in 1998 in Al Quoz, Dubai. The two branches coordinate by a director general and have the same board of directors. The school gained accreditation from AdvancED in 2012. Al Garhoud is close to Dubai International Airport and therefore preferred by Emirates Airline pilots as a living place. The Emirates Aviation College is also situated in Al Garhoud. Al Quoz ( ar, القوز), or "El Goze" in Emirati Arabic is a locality / town in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Al Quoz is located in western Dubai. It is bordered to the north by Al Wasl and to the west by Umm Al Sheif, Al Manara and Al Safa, forming a long rectangle between Al Khail and Sheikh Zayed roads. Al Quoz is mainly known for its art galleries, factories, parks, and eateries. Organization Al Quoz consists of a mainly residential area in the northeast and an industrial area in the southwest with four subcommunities each. The ''residential'' areas of Al Quoz 1, 2 and 4 are home to mainly Emirati families. The Common Core State Standards Initiative, also known as simply Common Core, is an educational initiative from 2010 that details what K–12 students throughout the United States should know in English language arts and mathematics at the conclusion of each school grade. Next Generation Science Standards
The Next Generation Science Standards is a multi-state effort in the United States to create new education standards that are "rich in content and practice, arranged in a coherent manner across disciplines and grades to provide all students an internationally benchmarked science education." The standards were developed by a consortium of 26 states and by the National Science Teachers Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Research Council, anAchieve a nonprofit organization that was also involved in developing math and English standards.
