Dubai Design District
Dubai Design District (d3) is a purpose-built community in Dubai dedicated to the design, fashion, and culture community, including startups, entrepreneurs, and well-established international design, luxury, and fashion brands. It was established in 2013. It is a TECOM Group freezone business park consisting of three phases, the first of which is 11 building offices, completed in 2016. The district hosts some regional and international brands and design houses such as Adidas, Nike, and Foster + Partners. It comprises office spaces, retail boutiques, workshops, hotels, residential areas, and restaurants and cafes. The district allows professionals and freelancers who do not hold UAE citizenship to obtain a license from the free zone and authorize them to have sole ownership of their projects. Dubai Creek
Dubai Creek ( ar, خور دبي, Khūr Dubay) has been described as a natural saltwater creek, tidal inlet, and watercourse or waterway in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). It extends about inwards and forms a natural port that has traditionally been used for trade and transport. The creek ranges from in width while the average depth is about . Previously, it extended to Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary but as part of the new Business Bay Canal and Dubai Canal, it extends a further to the Persian Gulf. Some sources say that the creek historically extended as far inland as Al Ain, and that the Ancient Greeks called it River Zara. In the 1950s, extensive development of the creek began, including dredging and construction of breakwaters. Dubai Design Week is an annual event held to celebrate and promote design and creativity in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The first Dubai Design Week took place in 2015, and is held annually at venues across the city, with Dubai Design District being the main hub. Foster + Partners is a British architectural, engineering, and integrated design practice founded in 1967 as Foster Associates by Norman Foster. It is the largest architectural firm in the UK with over 1,500 employees in 13 studios worldwide. Amina Al Rustamani
Amina Al Rustamani is an Emirati businesswoman who's currently the director of family business AW Rostamani Group. She ranked number 9 in the CEO Middle East's fifth annual list of the world's most powerful Arab women in 2015. She was picked as the Advertising Person of the Year by Dubai Lynx for 2015. Al Rustamani started her career in Dubai in 2001 as an electrical engineer with TECOM Investments (now TECOM Group), becoming one of few women in the Middle East to enter the profession. She received her bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from The George Washington University in 1993, 1996, and 2001, respectively. It is known for being the world’s tallest building.
