Dub Trio
Dub Trio is a dub/rock cross-over band from Brooklyn, New York City, New York. History Dub Trio consists of bassist Stu Brooks, guitarist DP Holmes, and drummer Joe Tomino. With the addition of electronic, rock, punk and heavy metal, the group pays homage to King Tubby's original dub style, while recreating studio trickery live on stage using various delay pedals, keyboards, and samplers. While Tomino can add delay or loop effects to his own drums, each member of the band has the ability to "dub" the other via microphones on Tomino's kit running to delay effects on both Holmes' and Brooks' pedal boards. In 2004, Dub Trio released the debut album, ''Exploring the Dangers Of''. Dub Trio's first recording with vocals, "We're Not Alone" with Mike Patton, was featured on both the group's '' New Heavy'' (2006) and on Peeping Tom's ''Peeping Tom'' (2006). Moers Festival
The Moers Festival is an annual international music festival in Moers, Germany. The festival has changed from concentrating on free jazz to including world and pop music, though it still invites many avant-garde jazz musicians. Performers at Moers include Lester Bowie, Fred Frith, Jan Garbarek, Herbie Hancock, Abdullah Ibrahim, David Murray, Sun Ra, Archie Shepp, and Cecil Taylor. King Tubby
Osbourne Ruddock (28 January 1941 – 6 February 1989), better known as King Tubby, was a Jamaican sound engineer who greatly influenced the development of dub in the 1960s and 1970s. Tubby's innovative studio work, which saw him elevate the role of the mixing engineer to a creative fame previously only reserved for composers and musicians, would prove to be influential across many genres of popular music. He is often cited as the inventor of the concept of the remix that later became ubiquitous in dance and electronic music production. Mobb Deep
Mobb Deep was an American hip hop duo from New York City. The duo consisted of rappers Prodigy and Havoc. They are considered to be among the principal progenitors of hardcore East Coast hip hopEdwards, Paul, 2009, ''How to Rap: The Art & Science of the Hip-Hop MC'', Chicago Review Press, p. 323. and hip hop in the mid-1990s. Mobb Deep became one of the most successful rap duos of all time, having sold over three million records. Their best-known albums are ''The Infamous'' (1995), '' Hell on Earth'' (1996) and ''Murda Muzik'' (1999), and their most successful singles were "Shook Ones (Part II)" and " Survival of the Fittest." David Darnell Brown (born March 15, 1981), best known by his stage name Young Buck, is an American rapper. He heads his own record label, Cashville, and was a member of the former hip hop group G-Unit. Early life Brown was born in Nashville, Tennessee. Around the age of 12, he began rapping. He is best known as a member of G-Unit, a hip hop group he formed with his childhood friends 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks.
