Dub Side Of The Moon
''Dub Side of the Moon'' is a dub reggae tribute to the 1973 Pink Floyd album, ''The Dark Side of the Moon'', co-produced by Easy Star All-Stars founders Michael G (Michael Goldwasser) and Ticklah (Victor Axelrod). Easy Star All Stars released ''Dub Side of the Moon: Special Anniversary Edition'', on CD and vinyl, on September 16, 2014. Release details Included with the liner notes are instructions on how to synchronize the album with the 1939 film '' The Wizard of Oz'' and produce a variation of the perceived "Dark Side of the Rainbow" effect. The album has sold over 85,000 copies thus far and Easy Star All-Stars have been regularly touring in support of the album. Artist and Drummer Patrick Dougher performed on the recording but did not tour with the band. A DVD of a live performance of ''Dub Side of the Moon'' was released by the Easy Star label in July 2006. Easy Star All-Stars is a reggae collective founded in 1997 by Michael Goldwasser, Eric Smith, Lem Oppenheimer and Remy Gerstein of New York City-based Easy Star Records. The band is known for its reinterpretations of classic albums in reggae style. Time (Pink Floyd Song)
"Time" is a song by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is included as the fourth track on their eighth album ''The Dark Side of the Moon'' (1973) and was released as a single in the United States. Bassist Roger Waters wrote the lyrics, and the music is credited to all four band members. Keyboardist Richard Wright shares lead vocals (his last until "Wearing the Inside Out" on ''The Division Bell'') alongside guitarist David Gilmour. The lyrics deal with the passage of time. Waters got the idea when he realised he was no longer preparing for anything in life, but was right in the middle of it. The Meditations are a reggae vocal harmony group from Jamaica formed in late 1974. They have released several studio albums and are still performing in the 2000s and today. "Eclipse" is the tenth and final track from British progressive rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album, ''The Dark Side of the Moon''. It was written and sung by Roger Waters, with harmonies by David Gilmour and Rick Wright. After Waters left the band, Gilmour sang the lead vocal when performing live. "Brain Damage" is the ninth track from English rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album ''The Dark Side of the Moon''. It was sung on record by Roger Waters (with harmonies by David Gilmour), who would continue to sing it on his solo tours. Gilmour sang the lead vocal when Pink Floyd performed it live on their 1994 tour (as can be heard on ''Pulse''). The band originally called this track "Lunatic" during live performances and recording sessions. Composition When the band reconvened after the American leg of the ''Meddle'' tour, Roger Waters brought with him a prototype version of "Brain Damage" along with other songs such as "Money". "Any Colour You Like" is the eighth track on the English band Pink Floyd's 1973 album, ''The Dark Side of the Moon''. It is an instrumental written by David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Nick Mason. Composition The piece itself has no lyrics and consists of a synthesised tune which segues into a guitar solo (some scat vocals are added later; these were more prominent in live versions but are still audible in the studio recording). It is approximately three minutes, 25 seconds in length. The piece used advanced effects for the time both in the keyboard and the guitar. Richard Wright used a VCS 3 synthesizer which was fed through a long tape loop to create the rising and falling keyboard solo. Frankie Paul
Paul Blake (19 October 1965 – 18 May 2017), better known as Frankie Paul, was a Jamaican dancehall reggae artist. Born blind, he has been dubbed by some 'The Jamaican Stevie Wonder'. Biography Born in Jamaica in 1965, Blake was born blind but as a child had his sight partially restored by an operation on a hospital ship. He sang for, and impressed Stevie Wonder when Wonder visited the school that Blake attended, prompting him to pursue a singing career. Adopting the stage name Frankie Paul, he first found fame in the early 1980s, and he recorded prolifically throughout the decade. He recorded for virtually every producer/studio in Jamaica at some time, and was known to release several albums a year. Dollarman is a Caribbean singer, songwriter, producer and musician born in Grenada. Since moving to Brooklyn, New York, he continues to present hits with a Caribbean influence and reggae. Career In the early 1990s, he recorded his first two tracks, "Long Time Lover" and "Driver" on the Rockers Forever record label. He also performed live at clubs and bars in New York and became well recognized on the Underground Brooklyn Reggae music scene for over 10 years.
