Du Chun Kim
Kim Du-chun is a paralympic athlete from South Korea competing mainly in category C6 sprint events. Kim competed in four Paralympics winning six medals including four gold. He first competed in the 1988 Summer Paralympics where he finished fifth in the 100m, fourth in the 200m and fifth in the 400m. At the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona he finished second in the 100m behind the world record equalling run of American Larry Banks, and won gold in the 200m and 400m where he set a new Paralympic games record. In the 1996 Summer Paralympics he retained his title in the 400m in a new world record and despite American Freeman Register setting a new world record in the heats of the 100m, Kim beat him in the final to win the Gold medal but he was only able to win the bronze in the 200m. Track And Field
Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. The foot racing events, which include sprints, middle- and long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. International Paralympic Committee
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC; german: Internationales Paralympisches Komitee) is an international non-profit organisation and the global governing body for the Paralympic Movement. The IPC organizes the Paralympic Games and functions as the international federation for nine sports. Founded on 22 September 1989 in Düsseldorf, West Germany, its mission is to "enable Paralympic athletes to achieve sporting excellence and inspire and excite the world". Furthermore, the IPC wants to promote the Paralympic values and to create sport opportunities for all persons with a disability, from beginner to elite level.
