Drina Regatta
The Drina Regatta ( sr-cyr, Дринска Регата) is a tourist and recreational event held on the Drina River. It is active since 1994 and is organised by S.T.C. "Bajina Bašta" and the municipality of Bajina Bašta for recreation in wooden rafts. The regatta is the most visited event in Western Serbia and central summer event on the water in the region. Drina
The Drina ( sr-Cyrl, Дрина, ) is a long Balkans river, which forms a large portion of the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. It is the longest tributary of the Sava River and the longest karst river in the Dinaric Alps which belongs to the Danube river watershed. Its name is derived from the Roman name of the river ( la, Drinus) which in turn is derived from Greek (Ancient Greek: ). The Drina originates from the confluence of the rivers Tara and Piva, in the glen between the slopes of the Maglić, Hum and Pivska Planina mountains, in the area of Šćepan Polje (in Montenegro) and Hum (Bosnia and Herzegovina) villages. Tourism in Serbia is officially recognized as a primary area for economic and social growth. The hotel and catering sector accounted for approximately 2.2% of GDP in 2015. Tourism in Serbia employs some 75,000 people, about 3% of the country's workforce. In recent years the number of tourists is increasing, especially foreign ones for about hundred thousand arrivals more each year. In 2019, tourism generated an income of nearly $1.698 billion, hosting 3 million and seven hundred thousand tourists, half of whom were foreigners. Drina River House
Drina river house ( sr-Cyr, Кућица на Дрини, ) is a wooden, cabin-like house on the rock in the middle of the Drina river, near the town of Bajina Bašta in western Serbia. The original object was built in 1968 by a group of swimmers who needed a shelter. Until 2019, it was destroyed 7 times during the high water level in the river, but was rebuilt every time. Location The house is located on the north-eastern slopes of the Tara, between Bajina Bašta in Serbia, and Liješće in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is away upstream from downtown Bajina Bašta. History Origin The isolated rock on which the house is built is almost right in the middle of the river, close to the modern border between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
