Dreamers' Circus
Dreamers' Circus is a Nordic band consisting of Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen (Denmark/Faroe Islands), Ale Carr ( Sweden) and Nikolaj Busk (Denmark). History Dreamers’ Circus formed in 2009 as a result of a jam session at a folk festival in Copenhagen. Their first performance was at a concert with the Copenhagen Philharmonic, where the trio performed a folk music version of the cadenza in Mozart’s 5th violin concerto. In 2010 Dreamers’ Circus released an EP with five tracks on the Danish label GO’ Folk. The EP was produced by Swedish guitarist Roger Tallroth, of the folk band Väsen. Also featured on the EP is Swedish folk singer Sofia Karlsson. In 2013 Dreamers’ Circus released their first full album, ''A Little Symphony'' on GO’ Folk. The album was produced by August Wanngren and featured both classical string quartet and brass ensemble. Roger Tallroth (musician)
__NOTOC__ Karl Johan Roger Tallroth, born in 1958, is a Swedish folk musician and composer, best known as a former member of the band Väsen. He was educated at the Sjövik Folk High School and the School of Music in Örebro University. Principally a guitarist, he also plays other stringed instruments such as the bouzouki, ukulele, mandola, mandolin, fiddle, viola, oud and double bass. He also works as an arranger, and teaches at both the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and in Örebro University. Sharon Shannon
Sharon Shannon (born 8 June 1968) is an Irish musician, best known for her work with the button accordion and for her fiddle technique. She also plays the tin whistle and melodeon. Her 1991 debut album, ''Sharon Shannon,'' was the best-selling album of traditional Irish music ever released in Ireland. Beginning with Irish folk music, her work demonstrates a wide-ranging number of musical influences. She won the lifetime achievement award at the 2009 Meteor Awards. The Chieftains
The Chieftains are a traditional Irish folk band formed in Dublin in 1962, by Paddy Moloney, Seán Potts and Michael Tubridy. Their sound, which is almost entirely instrumental and largely built around uilleann pipes, has become synonymous with traditional Irish music. They are regarded as having helped popularise Irish music around the world. They have won six Grammy Awards during their career and they were given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2002 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Some music experts have credited The Chieftains with bringing traditional Irish music to a worldwide audience, so much so that the Irish government awarded them the honorary title of 'Ireland's Musical Ambassadors' in 1989. Nanna Øland Fabricius (born 2 May 1985), better known by her stage name Oh Land, is a Danish musician, singer, songwriter, actress and television personality. Early life Oh Land was born in Copenhagen, the daughter of Bendt Fabricius, an organist (not to be confused with the composer Bent Fabricius Bjerre), and Bodil Øland, an opera singer. She is the great-great-grandchild of Lutheran missionary and ethnographer Otto Fabricius, who published ''Fauna Groenlandica'' in 1780, the first zoological observations of Greenland. Lyngby-Taarbæk Symfoniorkester (engl. Lyngby-Taarbæk Philharmonic Orchestra) is a full philharmonic amateur orchestra based in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark. It consists of a mixed group of conservatory students and amateur musicians, ranging in age from the early teens to the 50s and 60s. It is usually conducted by well-known guest conductors, and complemented by solo musicians for particular pieces. It has a reputation as one of the best amateur orchestras in Denmark. Founded in 1957 as part of the local municipal music school, it became a wholly independent orchestra in 1980. Østre Gasværk Teater
Østre Gasværk Teater is a theatre in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark, located in an abandoned gasholder house of the former Østre Gasværk (‘Eastern Gasworks’). The theatre is constructed within the masonry shell that used to house the gas holder, also known as a gasometer, proper. Built in 1883, it was one of the first independent works of Martin Nyrop, who would later become known for his design of the Copenhagen City Hall. History Østre Gasværk was opened in 1878 as the city's second gasworks, when its first gasworks, Vestre Gasværk, a facility located at the site of the current Meatpacking District, no longer could satisfy the rapidly growing demand for gas. ''Pelle the Conqueror'' ( da, Pelle Erobreren, sv, Pelle Erövraren) is a 1987 epic film co-written and directed by Bille August, based upon the 1910 novel of the same name by Danish writer Martin Andersen Nexø. The film tells the story of two Swedish immigrants to Denmark, a father and son, who try to build a new life for themselves. It stars Pelle Hvenegaard as the young Pelle, with Max von Sydow as his father, and also features Axel Strøbye and Astrid Villaume. A co-production of Denmark and Sweden, August chose to adapt ''Boyhood'', the first part of Nexø's novel, seeking to make an epic and citing the novel's status as essential reading in Denmark. Carl Nielsen
Carl August Nielsen (; 9 June 1865 – 3 October 1931) was a Danish composer, conductor and violinist, widely recognized as his country's most prominent composer. Brought up by poor yet musically talented parents on the island of Funen, he demonstrated his musical abilities at an early age. He initially played in a military band before attending the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen from 1884 until December 1886. He premiered his Op. 1, '' Suite for Strings'', in 1888, at the age of 23. The following year, Nielsen began a 16-year stint as a second violinist in the Royal Danish Orchestra under the conductor Johan Svendsen, during which he played in Giuseppe Verdi's ''Falstaff'' and '' Otello'' at their Danish premieres.
