Dreamcar (stylized as DREAMCAR) is an American new wave supergroup from Los Angeles, California. Background and musical style When news first broke of Davey Havok working with No Doubt members, many believed he would be replacing Gwen Stefani as the singer of that band. In an interview, Havok clarified that this was not the case. "I'm not singing for No Doubt," he said. He did admit that the band "have a lot of great songs. We have songs that are fully complete. And, it's just a great time. It's really fun. I think people will really like it." Havok also stated the band's overall style has an "'80s vibe". "Kill for Candy" is the debut single by American supergroup Dreamcar for their self-titled debut album from 2017. The song was produced by Tim Pagnotta and written by the group's four members: Tom Dumont, Davey Havok, Tony Kanal, and Adrian Young. It was released as the album's lead single on March 2, 2017, through Columbia Records. Following Dreamcar's formation, "Kill for Candy" was one of the first four songs the quartet wrote together. It is a new wave song that was influenced by the music of the 1980s and compared to the releases of English bands New Order and A Flock of Seagulls, as well as Havok's own work with AFI and Blaqk Audio. David Paden Marchand (born David Paden Passaro, November 20, 1975), known professionally as Davey Havok, is an American singer and musician who is the lead vocalist of the rock band AFI, the synth-pop band Blaqk Audio, the hardcore punk band XTRMST, and the new wave band Dreamcar. Amongst various other ventures, he performed lead vocals for Son of Sam's debut album and for fictional band My Purple Agony in the animated series ''Harvey Girls Forever!''. Gabrial McNair (born September 8, 1973) is a musician and composer, most famous for his work in No Doubt since 1993 as a trombonist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist. He recorded and toured with Green Day during the ''Nimrod'' and '' Warning'' tours, playing trombone and tenor saxophone. In 2003, he was one of the co-founders the California-based rock band Oslo where he plays the guitar. Early life and studies McNair attended Glendora High School in Glendora, California. Dumont is a member of third wave ska band No Doubt, and during the band's hiatus, he began Invincible Overlord as a side project and produced Matt Costa's ''Songs We Sing''. XTRMST
XTRMST was an American straight edge hardcore punk band featuring Davey Havok and Jade Puget of AFI. XTRMST was Havok and Puget's second side project together, after their electronic project Blaqk Audio. They released their debut album '' XTRMST'' in 2014 on long-time friend Steve Aoki's Dim Mak Records. Havok and Puget later added Chris Sorenson (Saosin) on bass, Josh James ( Stick to Your Guns, Evergreen Terrace, Casey Jones) on guitar, and Val Saucedo (Loma Prieta, Punch) on drums. The band ultimately played two live shows in early 2015: One at the Roxy in West Hollywood, and one at The Observatory in Santa Ana. Scheila Gonzalez (born August 5, 1971 in Los Angeles, California) is an American, Grammy winning multi-instrumentalist and music educator. She is best known for playing the saxophone and other instruments in the all-female Sherrie Maricle, DIVA Jazz Orchestra and with artists such as Dweezil Zappa, Alex Acuña, Ray Parker Jr. and many others. No Doubt
No Doubt is an American rock band from Anaheim, California, formed in 1986. For most of their career, the band has consisted of vocalist Gwen Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young. Since the mid-1990s, they were supported by trombonist and keyboardist Gabrial McNair and trumpeter and keyboardist Stephen Bradley in live performances.
