Dream Mile
The Dream Mile may refer to the annual Diamond League race in Oslo at Bislett Stadium, or several historic individual races featuring top middle-distance runners. Dream Mile (Bislett) The Dream Mile is an annual mile race run at Bislett Stadium, Oslo as part of the Bislett Games, one of the meetings of the Diamond League athletics competition. This annual event was interrupted in 2004 for the rebuilding of Bislett Stadium, replacing a six-lane track with sharp bends and steep terraces with a conventional eight-lane track and seating. In 1980, the world mile record was set in this race by Steve Ovett, and in 1985 Steve Cram also set a new world mile record. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Mohammed Shaween
Mohammed Othman Shaween (born 15 February 1986 in Jeddah) is a Saudi Arabian middle distance runner who specializes in the 1500 metres. He received a three-year ban from the sport for doping. He finished eighth at the 2005 Asian Championships (in 800 m), sixth at the 2006 Asian Games and won the gold medal at the 2007 Asian Championships. He also competed in the 1500 metres at the 2007 World Championships and the 2008 Olympic Games without progressing to the second round. He won the gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games. Kevin Sullivan (born March 20, 1974) is the men's head cross country and distance coach at University of Michigan and former middle-distance runner from Canada. He was born in Brantford, Ontario. Personal life Sullivan studied civil engineering at the University of Michigan where he had 14 All-American honours and won 4 NCAA titles (one relay and 3 individual). Sulivan's father, Richard, is a machinist. He has two brothers, Darren and Colin. He played hockey and soccer while growing up in Brantford. He was married to former Canadian steeplechase record holder Karen Harvey in 1998. They divorced in November 2014. Ray Flynn (athlete)
Raymond P. Flynn (born 22 January 1957) is a retired middle-distance runner who works as a sports agent. Over the course of his racing career, Flynn ran a total of 89 sub-four minute miles, with his best time (and current Irish mile record) of 3:49.77 on 7 July 1982 in Oslo, Norway at the Bislett Games Dream Mile. He also holds the current Irish 1500 meter record of 3:33.5, set in the same Oslo race. Rui Manuel Monteiro Silva ComIH (born 3 August 1977) is a Portuguese track and field athlete and coach who represents S.L. Benfica. As a distance runner, he specializes at the 1500 and 3000 m events, although he has at times run the 800 metres as well. Silva is the current national champion at 1500 m. Biography Silva was the Olympic bronze medalist at Athens in 2004, where he went from last place to third place in less than 400 meters, his last lap being in 51.3 seconds. His last 800 meters of that race were run in 1:46.3, believed to be the second-fastest final 800 metres of any 1500-meter race in history (behind Abdi Bile's 1:46.0 at the 1987 World Championships).
