Drammenselva ( en, Drammen River) is a river in Buskerud county, southeastern Norway. Location Drammenselva is one of the largest rivers in Norway, with a drainage basin of about and a discharge of per second. Drammen River's total length is making it the fifth longest river in Norway. Its 48 km course runs from Tyrifjorden in the north to Drammensfjord in the south, where it cuts through the centre of the city of Drammen. Drammen
Drammen () is a city and municipality in Viken, Norway. The port and river city of Drammen is centrally located in the south-eastern and most populated part of Norway. Drammen municipality also includes smaller towns and villages such as Konnerud, Svelvik, Mjøndalen and Skoger. Location Drammen is located west of the Oslofjord and is situated approximately 44 km South-west of Oslo. Drammensfjord
Drammensfjord ( en, Drammen Fjord) is a fjord in Norway that connects to Ytre Oslofjord on the west side. It stretches to the north and northeast. The Drammenselva river discharges into the head of the fjord. The municipality and city of Drammen which is named after the fjord is also found there. The majority of the fjord is within the county of Buskerud, but in the west and southwest it lies in Vestfold county. The land on the east side of the fjord is called ''Hurumhalvøya'' or the Hurum peninsula; it separates the Drammensfjord from the Oslofjord. The fjord narrows to a strait at Svelvik in Vestfold on the west side and Verket in Hurum on the east side. The strait is crossed by an automobile ferry. Bragernes
Bragernes is one of the central areas of the city of Drammen in Viken, Norway. Location Bragernes is located on the northern side of the Drammen River (''Drammenselva'') and contains the famous town square Bragernes square (''Bragernes Torg''), the town hall, the Drammen Theatre (''Drammens Teater''), Drammen park, and most of the shopping and nightlife in Drammen. Geithus
Geithus is a village in Modum municipality of Buskerud, Norway. It is situated between the villages of Åmot and Vikersund. Geithus is located where the southwestern arm of Tyrifjorden ends and drains into Drammenselva. Geithusbrua is a cable bridge, that spans the junction where Tyrifjorden turns into Drammenselva. Simoa
Simoa is the name of a river which flows through the municipalities of Sigdal and Modum in Buskerud County, Norway. Location The Simoa river runs from Lake Soneren through the municipality of Sigdal in a south-easterly course until it flows into Drammenselva at Åmot in Modum. The river begins a few miles north of Lake Haglebuvatna where it is initially known as the Haglebu, later becoming the Eggedøla as it flows through the valley of Eggedal. Modum
Modum is a municipality in Buskerud in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Vikersund. The municipality of Modum was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The area has a long tradition of skiing with several famous skiers. Hokksund
Hokksund is a town in the municipality of Øvre Eiker in the county of Viken, Norway. History Hokksund is the administrative centre, and largest town in Øvre Eiker, with a population of around 8,000. Hokksund is located 18 km west of Drammen. The river Drammenselva flows through the town, 500m from the centre. Hokksund has developed on both sides of the river. Solbergelva
Solbergelva is a village in Drammen municipality, part of the Viken county , Norway. The village lies north of Drammenselva, approx. 5 miles west of Bragernes square, between Åssiden in the east and Krokstadelva in the west with Solbergfjellet north. Holmen (Drammen)
Holmen, formerly also Møllerholmen, is an 0.6 km2 island at the mouth of the river Drammenselva in Drammen, Viken, Norway, and the only remaining island in downtown Drammen. History Historical records from 400 years ago reveal that the island was just a sand bank, but over the years since, it has grown substantially, first due to the post-glacial rebound, but foremost due to artificial mass deposits. Some of the mass comes from infrastructure projects (tunnel excavations) near Drammen. Future deposits will increase the island's area to 0.9 km2. The western tip of the island, called Holmenokken, is a public park where midsummer bonfires have been lit in later years. Tyrifjorden
Tyrifjorden (Lake Tyri) is a lake in Norway. It lies northwest of Oslo and is the nation's fifth largest lake with an area of 139 km2. It has a volume of 13 km3, is 295 meters deep at its deepest, and lies 63 meters above sea level. The lake's primary source is the Begna river, which discharges into Tyrifjorden at Hønefoss where the river forms the waterfall of Hønefossen. Buskerud
Buskerud () is a former county and a current electoral district in Norway, bordering Akershus, Oslo, Oppland, Sogn og Fjordane, Hordaland, Telemark and Vestfold. The region extends from the Oslofjord and Drammensfjorden in the southeast to Hardangervidda mountain range in the northwest. The county administration was in modern times located in Drammen.
