DramaGods
DramaGods (formerly known as Population 1) is a rock band led by Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. The band originally started when Bettencourt released the album '' Population 1'' in 2002 (late 2001 in Japan). On the album, he recorded all the instruments on most of the tracks. When he decided to go on tour to support the album, he formed a touring band with Joe Pessia on rhythm guitar, Steve Ferlazzo on keyboards and back-up vocals, Philip Bynoe on bass and Kevin Figueiredo on drums. Later Phil left and Joe took the role of bassist. In 2004, while still under the moniker of Population 1, they released an EP titled '' Sessions from Room 4''. In 2005, due to legal issues, Bettencourt dropped the name Population 1 and changed it to DramaGods with the same lineup. DramaGods released their debut effort ''Love'' in December 2005, available as an import via Victor Entertainment (Japan). Nuno Bettencourt
Nuno Duarte Gil Mendes Bettencourt (born September 20, 1966) is a Portuguese-American guitarist, singer-songwriter, record producer, and businessman. He became known as the lead guitarist of the Boston rock band Extreme. He has also recorded a solo album as well as having founded bands including Mourning Widows, Population 1, DramaGods, and The Satellite Party. Early years Bettencourt was born on September 20, 1966 in Praia da Vitória, Terceira, Azores, Portugal, to Ezequiel Mendes Bettencourt and wife Aureolina da Cunha Gil de Ávila. When he was four years old, his family, including brothers Luís and Roberto, moved to Hudson, Massachusetts. Initially, Bettencourt had little interest in music, wanting to become an actor and preferring to spend his time playing hockey and football. Kevin Figueiredo
Kevin "k-Figg" Figueiredo is an American drummer. Kevin began playing drums at the age of ten, when his grandfather bought him a drum kit. He has studied with jazz drummer Bob Gullotti "The Fringe" and Mike Mangini, who collectively exposed him to many different approaches to drumming. He has performed with artists/bands such as: Satellite Party, Dramagods, Population 1, Slash, Nuno Bettencourt, Chester Bennington, Perry Farrell, Lucia Moniz, and Tantric. Kevin has also recorded with Dramagods, Population 1, The Satellite Party, Lucia Moniz, and Extreme. Extreme In November 2007, Kevin joined the reuniting band Extreme including original members Gary Cherone, Pat Badger, and Nuno Bettencourt, with whom Kevin performed in both Satellite Party and DramaGods. Extreme (band)
Extreme is an American Rock music, rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1985, that reached the height of their popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s with original lineup Gary Cherone (lead vocals), Nuno Bettencourt (guitars and keyboards), Paul Geary (drums and percussion), and Pat Badger (bass guitar). With the exclusion of Geary, the lineup has remained unchanged. Their current drummer is Kevin Figueiredo. ''Sessions From Room 4'' is an EP released by the band Population 1, led by Extreme/DramaGods guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. The EP is the first official release from the band Population 1, which was previously just a solo project by Nuno Bettencourt. They had to change the name of the band, not once, but twice due to legal reasons. They were briefly known as Near Death Experience (a name Bettencourt had floated before for previous projects) and subsequently DramaGods, under which they released their next and only album to date, "Love". Steve Ferlazzo
Stephen Anthony Ferlazzo Jr. is an American keyboard player, based in California. After graduating at the Berklee School of Music, he has played with two members of Extreme in their projects after the band broke up: he was the keyboardist for Gary Cherone in his Tribe of Judah project, and for Nuno Bettencourt in his DramaGods band. He guested on the debut Science Faxtion album, '' Living on Another Frequency'' and toured with Avril Lavigne. He is the creator and organizer of the monthly (formerly weekly) live music production Soundcheck Live, which takes place at Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood, California. Love (DramaGods Album)
''Love'' is the second and final studio album from DramaGods, a project led by guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. Bettencourt is most remembered for being the guitarist in the band Extreme. Originally conceived as a double-album entitled "Love/Hate", the songs were combined into one album. It is not known what happened to the rest of the songs from these recording sessions, if they were ever fully recorded and produced, or just left as demos. The album was originally released by JVC Victor in Japan and is the first released by the band under the name DramaGods. The band was previously known as Population 1, but changed the name due to legal issues. The song 'Interface' was later re-recorded for Extreme's album ''Saudades de Rock''. Mourning Widows
Mourning Widows was a musical project led by former Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. The band was formed in 1997, and they released two albums during their career. Despite not being widely released in the United States, both albums were successful in Japan. Bettencourt formed the band after the moderate success of his 1996 solo album, '' Schizophonic''. The band's sound went back to a funkier guitar-driven rock reminiscent of Extreme, while still having post-grunge and alternative influences. After the end of the Furnished Souls For Rent tour, in 2001, Nuno decided to dismiss the band and released a record as Population 1, mostly recorded by himself. That became the name of his new band too, which would later become DramaGods. Satellite Party
Satellite Party was an alternative rock band formed by Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell following the break-up of Jane's Addiction in 2004. Other members included Carl Restivo (bass) and Farrell's wife, Etty Lau Farrell (backing singer and dancer). The band was initially formed as a collaboration between Farrell and Extreme member Nuno Bettencourt. Bettencourt departed from the project in July 2007. The band released one studio album in 2007, '' Ultra Payloaded''. Satellite Party dissolved in 2008, following Jane's Addiction's decision to reunite on a full-time basis. Perry Farrell
Perry Farrell (born Peretz Bernstein; March 29, 1959) is an American singer, songwriter and musician, best known as the frontman of the alternative rock band Jane's Addiction. Farrell created the touring festival Lollapalooza as part (one of the venues) of a farewell tour for Jane's Addiction in 1991; it has since evolved into an annual destination festival.
