Dox Box
DOX BOX ( ar, دوكس بوكس) is a nonprofit institution for support and training in documentary film-making. Based in Berlin since 2014, with one foot in Europe and the other in the Arab/African region, it proposes carefully designed programs targeting diversity, skills transfer and alternative visual perspectives. The mission is to support distinct and singular voices from the region to ensure that a vibrant, growing and inclusive space for documentary film-making continues to thrive. Programs and Activities The editing residency program is one of the oldest forms of support offered by DOX BOX to filmmakers from the Arab/African region. The residency is directed at films at their rough-cut stage or filmmakers who want to take the time to conceptualize their visual material to produce trailers and/or assembly versions of their films. Prince Claus Fund
The Prince Claus Fund was established in 1996, named in honor of Prince Claus of the Netherlands. It receives an annual subsidy from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Fund has presented the international Prince Claus Awards annually since 1997 to honor individuals and organizations reflecting a progressive and contemporary approach to the themes of culture and development. Orwa Nyrabia ( ar, عروة النيربية; born 16 December 1977) is an independent documentary film festival artistic director, producer, filmmaker, trainer, human rights defender and co-founder of DOX BOX International Documentary Film Festival in Syria. Nyrabia is a resident of Berlin, Germany, since the end of 2013 In January 2018 Nyrabia became the director of International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). Education and career Nyrabia graduated with a degree of acting from the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts in Damascus, Syria. From 1997 to 2002, Nyrabia wrote regularly for Lebanese daily '' As-Safir''. In 2004, he starred in Yousry Nasrallah's "''The Gate of Sun''". The film, an adaptation of Elias Khoury's novel with the same name, was screened at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. Nyrabia also worked on several feature films as a first assistant director. Diana El Jeiroudi
Diana El Jeiroudi (a.k.a. Diana Aljeiroudi), ( ar, ديانا الجيرودي; born 1977) is a Berlin-based, Syrian independent film director and producer. El Jeiroudi’s films as director were celebrated at many festivals, including the Venice Film Festival, IDFA, DokLeipzig, Visions du Réel, CPH:DOX… among others. Her producing credits include the Sundance 2023 film ''5 Seasons of Revolution'', the Cannes Film Festival 2014 selection ''Silvered Water'', the IDFA 2013 selection ''The Mulberry House'', among others. She was the first Syrian to be a juror in Cannes Film Festival in 2014, when she was part of the first Documentary Film Award jury in the festival.
