Downset (usually stylized as downset.) is an American rap metal band from Los Angeles, California. Originally called Social Justice, the band's music blends influences from rap, funk, hardcore punk, and metal with "socially aware lyrics." Band history Formation and early releases (1989–1993) The band's original moniker was Social Justice. They began as a hardcore punk band. They released their debut album, ''Unity Is Strength'', in 1989 and the EP ''I Refuse to Lose'' under this name with a different lineup in 1992. They were known as being one of the first hardcore bands to incorporate hip hop and funk influences into their music. In 1992, Social Justice (1987–92) changed their name to Downset, and released the ''Our Suffocation'' demo in 1993. Maintain (album)
''Maintain'' is the sixth studio album by American rapcore band downset. It was released on June 10, 2022, and is their first album on Nuclear Blast Records. It is the band's first album to feature bassist Phillip Gonzales and drummer Bobby Blood. Background In March 2020, downset. began to create a four-song demo. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the studio closed and meant the band's demos were trapped in the studio for three months. After restrictions lifted, the band was able to finish the demos. Upon receiving the demo, the band's manager at the time, Scott Koenig, shopped the demos around to Nuclear Blast, and helped negotiate a deal with the label in summer 2021, which guirarist Rogelino Lozano called "a great deal on an awesome label." Recording and composition After doing some pre-production at Downtown LA Rehearsal Studios (owned by Chris Poland), the band set to work in the studio with Terror drummer Nick Jett, with recording taking a total of three months. ... Ozzfest is an annual music festival tour of the United States and sometimes Europe and later Japan, featuring performances by many heavy metal and hard rock musical groups. The Almighty were a Scottish hard rock/ heavy metal band from Glasgow formed in 1988. Three of the founding members, Ricky Warwick, Stump Monroe and Floyd London were friends who met at school.
