Doug Henry (baseball)
Richard Douglas Henry (born December 10, 1963) is an American former professional baseball relief pitcher and current coach. Career Henry played for the Milwaukee Brewers (1991–94), New York Mets (1995–96), San Francisco Giants (1997 and 2000), Houston Astros (1998–2000) and Kansas City Royals (2001). He was acquired by the Mets on November 30, 1994 in a transaction that was completed when the Brewers received minor-league catcher Javier Gonzalez on December 6 and Fernando Viña sixteen days later on December 22. He rejoined the Royals organization as the pitching coach for the Burlington Bees in the Midwest League after spending three years as a pitching coach in the Atlanta Braves organization. During the 2007 season, Henry was the pitching coach for the Single-A Rome Braves in the South Atlantic League. Pitcher
In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum. The 1984 Amateur World Series was the 28th Amateur World Series (AWS), an international men's amateur baseball tournament. South Atlantic League
The South Atlantic League, often informally called the Sally League, is a Minor League Baseball league with teams predominantly in states along the Atlantic coast of the United States from New York to Georgia. A Class A league for most of its history, the league was promoted to High-A as part of Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as the High-A East before reassuming its original moniker in 2022. A number of different leagues known as the South Atlantic League (SAL) have existed since 1904. Rome Braves
The Rome Braves are a Minor League Baseball team of the South Atlantic League and the High-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. They are located in Rome, Georgia, and play their home games at AdventHealth Stadium. The Atlanta Braves are an American professional baseball team based in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Midwest League is a Minor League Baseball league established in 1947 and based in the Midwestern United States. A Class A league for most of its history, the league was promoted to High-A as part of Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The Midwest League began as the Illinois State League (1947–1948) and then became the Mississippi–Ohio Valley League (1949–1955). Burlington Bees
The Burlington Bees are a collegiate summer baseball team of the Prospect League. They are located in Burlington, Iowa, and have played their home games at Community Field since 1947. Founded in 1889, the Bees played in Minor League Baseball's Midwest League from 1962 to 2020. With Major League Baseball's reorganization of the minor leagues after the 2020 season, Burlington was not selected to continue in affiliated baseball. Fernando Viña (''VEEN-ya'') (born April 16, 1969) is a Cuban-American former Major League Baseball second baseman and former MLB analyst for ESPN. His parents Andres and Olga emigrated from Cuba in 1968. From through , Viña played for the Seattle Mariners (1993), New York Mets (), Milwaukee Brewers (-), St. Louis Cardinals (-), and Detroit Tigers ().
