Doug Cox (footballer)
Douglas Cox (16 September 1957 – 30 November 2019) was an Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda and Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Originally from South Mildura, Cox played for West Torrens in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) before joining St Kilda in 1981. His move to St Kilda proved controversial, as Richmond protested that he should never have made it to St Kilda because South Mildura was in Richmond's country zone. As a result, St Kilda was stripped of eight premiership points and fined $5000; but, the VFL amended the relevant rules later in the season, and reinstated St Kilda's points. Despite the controversy, the defender was able to play 20 games in 1981 and added another 16 in 1982. Doug Cox (musician)
Doug Cox (born in 1962 or 1963) is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and music programmer, and is currently signed to Toronto's NorthernBlues Music. He is well known for his skills on the dobro and slide guitar. Cox is the first person from Canada to perform in the Dobrofest. In 2004, Cox collaborated with Todd Butler and produced the CD, ''Dobro and Guitar'', which received a nomination from the Western Canadian Music Awards for "best roots music". The CD was also named "CD of the year" at the Vancouver Island Music Festival. Cox teamed with Indian veena player Salil Bhatt on two albums: ''Slide to Freedom'' in 2011 and ''Slide to Freedom 2'' in 2012. At times they were accompanied by John Boutté (vocals), Ramkumar Mishra (tabla), Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (veena), and Dinah D (bass). Cox currently resides on Vancouver Island, Canada. Doug Cox (politician)
Doug Cox (born 1952) is an American politician from the state of Oklahoma. A Republican, Cox served as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, representing the 5th district from 2004 to 2016. Early life and career Cox earned his bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University in 1974, and completed his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1978. He works as an emergency room physician. Political career Cox was elected in 2004 with 56.39% of the vote. In the 2008 election, the Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Committee campaigned for Cox's Democratic opponent Kelly Kerr, wanting to punish Cox for being "too liberal" and referring to him as a "RINO – a Republican in name only". Cox was successfully re-elected with 71.66% of the vote. Cox identifies as pro-life, but does not support the abolition of abortion.
