Doug Chappel
Doug Chappel is an Australian comedian who grew up in the working class suburbs of Footscray and Sunshine in Melbourne's Western Suburbs. Chappel is also known for his work in the community with homeless youth and troubled teenagers. Once homeless himself and growing up with a "rough crowd", Chappel draws on his experiences from his past and applies it to his comedy. In 2016 it was announced that Chappel would be the new Ambassador for the Salvation Army's Westcare lead tenant program as a result of his continued support of the Western Suburbs, and his dedication and commitment to helping disadvantaged youth. ABC Television (Australian TV Network)
ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Until an organisational restructure in 2017/2018, ABC Television was also the name of a division of the ABC. The name was also used to refer to the first and for many years the only national ABC channel, before it was renamed ABC1 and then again to ABC TV. ''Stand Up Australia'' was an Australian comedy TV program locally produced by The Comedy Channel from 2006 to 2008. It was hosted by Cameron Knight, and featured four Australian or international comedians on each one-hour show. Season two was produced in Melbourne, previously the first season was shot at Foxtel's Sydney studios located in North Ryde, where the set and studio was named "The Troubled Bison". The first season went for a marathon 95 episodes and showcased Australia's top comedic talent. HSV (TV Station)
HSV is a television station in Melbourne, Australia. It is part of the Seven Network, one of the three main commercial television networks in Australia, its first and oldest station. It launched in time for the 1956 Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne. HSV-7 is the home of AFL coverage. The HSV building (also known as 'Broadcast Centre Melbourne') was the network's operations hub, where the Master Control Room was located, controlling all metropolitan and regional feeds. Programming lineup, advertisement output, feed switching, time zone monitoring and national transmission output was previously delivered there. Good Friday Appeal
The Good Friday Appeal is an annual fundraising activity on behalf of the Royal Children's Hospital, in Melbourne, Australia. The event occurs on Good Friday every year. In 2022, the appeal raised over $22 million, setting a new record. More than $345 million has been raised for the hospital since the appeal began in 1931. Individuals and businesses, clubs, schools and country towns throughout the state conduct activities to raise money for the hospital. The appeal is a non-political, non-denominational organisation that exists solely to financially support The Royal Children's Hospital. For the first time in 2014, the telethon was staged within the 2,500-seat Plenary theatre at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).
