Doug Brown (Australian Footballer)
Douglas Ernest Fewster Brown (30 August 1923 – 18 June 2012) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy and Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Brown, who kicked three goals on his league debut, was a rover from Geelong District. He couldn't play with Geelong in 1943 as they weren't competing due to the war, so he instead spent the season with Fitzroy. In 1944 Geelong returned to the league and he appeared in eight of the opening nine rounds of the season with them. He missed the rest of the year and all of the 1945 season as he was serving as a Leading Aircraftman in the Royal Australian Air Force. He proved a useful forward when resting in the forward pockets and contributed a career best 26 goals in 1947, from 15 games. His final appearance for Geelong was in their 17-point preliminary final loss to North Melbourne in 1950. Doug Brown (gridiron Football)
Douglas Gordon Brown (born September 29, 1974) is a retired National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL) defensive tackle. He played college football at Simon Fraser University. Brown won the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian Award in 2001. He played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 2001 until his retirement in 2011, competing in three Grey Cups: 2001, 2007, and 2011. He was a CFL All-Star eight times. Career Brown was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders 5th overall in the 1997 CFL draft. However, he did not play a game with them and signed with the Buffalo Bills of the NFL, spending his entire time there on the practice squad. Following that he went to play for the Washington Redskins where he played ten games with the NFL team. Douglas Allen Brown (born June 12, 1964) is an American former professional ice hockey right winger. He played in the National Hockey League with the New Jersey Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Detroit Red Wings between 1987 and 2001. With Detroit he won the Stanley Cup twice, in 1997 and 1998. Internationally he played for the American national team at four World Championships and the 1991 Canada Cup. Playing career After playing four seasons with Boston College, Brown was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Jersey Devils on August 6, 1986. Charles Douglas Brown (born March 1, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan) is a retired American track and field athlete, whose specialty was the Steeplechase. Early career While competing for the University of Tennessee he won the NCAA Championship in the steeplechase twice in a row, which qualified him to run in the 1973 World University Games. After college he ran with the Athletics West track club, one of the first mega teams sponsored by Nike. He was United States (Amateur Athletic Union) National Champion in 1973 and 1980. Olympic athlete Brown competed for the United States in two Olympic Games, running the steeplechase at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics. He qualified for the 1980 U.S. Olympic team but did not compete due to the U.S. Olympic Committee's boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Russia. Douglas Clifton Brown, 1st Viscount Ruffside, (16 August 1879 – 5 May 1958) was a British politician who represented the Conservative Party (UK). He served as Speaker of the House of Commons from 1943 to 1951. Upon stepping down as Speaker he became the Viscount Ruffside; the peerage became extinct with his death. Douglas Alexander Brown (born 21 March 1958) is a former footballer who played as a forward for Sheffield United. Born in England, he played for the Australia B national team. Born in Poole in Dorset, Brown started his career in Scotland where he was signed by Aberdeen on 16 July 1976 but failed to make the breakthrough into the first team. On May 17, 1978 he moved to Clydebank for a short spell before being signed by English side Sheffield United on 2 March 1979, making his league debut the following day in a 1–1 draw against Oldham Athletic. Described by the press as an 'enthusiastic' player Brown was unable to establish himself as a first team player and eventually left United in October 1980 after playing 31 games in total and scoring five goals.
