Double Cross (1941 Film)
''Double Cross'' is a 1941 American Producers Releasing Corporation crime film directed by Albert H. Kelley and starring serial star Kane Richmond. The film is also known as ''Motorcycle Squad'' (American 16mm rental title). Plot When a nightclub that also features illegal gambling is raided by the police, uniformed motorcycle policeman Steve Bronson is in an adjoining room to the main area with his girlfriend Fay Saunders who is a co-owner of the club with Nick Taggart. When Fay sees several policemen scuffling with Nick she grabs Steve's revolver and shoots one of the policemen. The other policemen return fire mortally wounding Steve whilst Fay places the revolver next to him and declares she saw Steve fire on the police. Steve's best friend is fellow motorcycle policeman Jim Murray, the son of a police captain who is the scourge of the city's criminals and corrupt politicians. Robert Homans
Robert Edward Homans (November 8, 1877 – July 28, 1947) was an American actor who entered films in 1923 after a lengthy stage career. Life and career Robert Homans was born November 8, 1877, in Malden, Massachusetts. Although he studied medicine for three years after his college graduation, a 1906 newspaper article noted that "the 'stage bee' got into his bonnet and nothing would do but that he become an actor." His Broadway credits include '' The Blue Bird'' (1910), ''The Blue Envelope'' (1915), ''Johnny, Get Your Gun'' (1916) and ''Like a King'' (1921). His screen debut came in ''Madame Sherry''. He appeared in some 400 films between 1917 and 1946. On April 18, 1909, Homans married Agnes J. Mellon in San Francisco. Another source gives his wife's name as Agnes Maynard. Homans died in Los Angeles, California on July 28, 1947, from a heart attack.
