Doron Shefa (דורון שפע; born October 3, 1961) is an Israeli former basketball player. He played the guard and forward positions. He was named to the Israeli Basketball Premier League Quintet in 1991. Biography Shefa is 6' 5" (1.96 meters) tall. He played for Hapoel Jerusalem, Hapoel Gilboa/Afula, Maccabi Haifa, and Hapoel Holon. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Therefore, Hapoel became a member of SASI in 1927 and later was a member of CSIT. Hapoel Afula ( he, הפועל עפולה) was a basketball club in Israel. The club was formed by a merger of Hapoel Gilboa and Hapoel Afula B.C., Hapoel Afula. The club played in the Israeli Basketball Super League until 2008 when it was relegated after finishing bottom in the 2007–08 Israeli Basketball Super League, 2007–08 season. The 1987 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1987, was the 25th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship, held by FIBA Europe. It was held in Greece between 3 and 14 June 1987. Twelve national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The Peace and Friendship Stadium, located in the Neo Faliron in Piraeus, Attica, was the hosting venue of the tournament. Basketball at the 1992 Summer Olympics was the thirteenth appearance of the sport of basketball as an official Olympic medal event. It included the sport of basketball's men's and women's competitions of the 1992 Summer Olympics. The games were played at the Pavelló Olímpic de Badalona. 12 men's teams and 8 women's teams participated in the tournament. This was the first time that NBA players were eligible to play in Summer Olympics basketball, following a decision of FIBA in April 1989.
