Donnie Sterling
Donnie Sterling is a musician brought in by Parlet's Mallia Franklin in 1978 as Parlet's band leader and bass player. After writing three songs on Parlet's second album, ''Invasion of the Booty Snatchers'', Sterling and Franklin both left Parlet in 1979. Sterling became P-Funk writer for producers George Clinton and Ron Dunbar. Sterling and Franklin attempted to form a P-Funk offspring group Sterling Silver Starship in 1979. An album was recorded, but never released. Sterling left P Funk in 1981 and formed a group, Kiddo, which was managed by Felix Raymond Rideaux. Parliament-Funkadelic (abbreviated as P-Funk) is an American music collective of rotating musicians headed by George Clinton, primarily consisting of the funk bands Parliament and Funkadelic, both active since the 1960s. Kiddo was a P-Funk offspring group at A&M Records, formed by Parliament-Funkadelic guitarist Michael Hampton and writer Donnie Sterling, in the early 1980s. History In 1978, one of Kiddo's founding members, Donnie Sterling, was a member of Parlet, a P-Funk girl group created by George Clinton. Mallia Franklin
Rosalind Mallia Franklin (March 1, 1952 – February 5, 2010), also known as The Queen Of Funk, was a vocalist of the American funk band Parliament-Funkadelic. She introduced friends George Clinton and Bootsy Collins in 1971, and brought ex- Ohio Player Junie Morrison to the band in 1978. She sang background on early Parliament and Funkadelic albums, and became an original member of Parlet, P-Funk's sub-group, where she recorded '' Pleasure Principle'' in 1978 and half of '' Invasion Of The Booty Snatchers'' in 1979. ''Invasion of the Booty Snatchers'' is the second studio album by the P-Funk spin off group Parlet. Released on May 15, 1979, this was the final Parlet album to feature Mallia Franklin and the first to feature Janice Evans. The album was produced by George Clinton and Ron Dunbar. The cover art was created by Ronald "Stozo" Edwards. The album's highest-charting single was "Riding High". ''Invasion of the Booty Snatchers'' was re-released in Japan on the Casablanca/ Polystar label in 1992 and in Germany on Universal in 2003. George Clinton (funk Musician)
George Edward Clinton (born July 22, 1941) is an American musician, singer, bandleader, and record producer. His Parliament-Funkadelic collective (which primarily recorded under the distinct band names Parliament and Funkadelic) developed an influential and eclectic form of funk music during the 1970s that drew on science fiction, outlandish fashion, psychedelia, and surreal humor. He launched his solo career with the 1982 album ''Computer Games'' and would go on to influence 1990s hip hop and G-funk. Clinton is regarded, along with James Brown and Sly Stone, as one of the foremost innovators of funk music. Ronald Dunbar (April 15, 1939 – April 3, 2018) was an American songwriter, A&R director and record producer who worked closely with Holland–Dozier–Holland, and with George Clinton. His co-writing credits include the hit songs "Give Me Just a Little More Time", " Band of Gold", and " Patches", for which he won a Grammy. His Grammy award was sold for $2,350 to the owners of TV show ''Pawn Stars''. It was later returned to the Dunbar family, after it was discovered that the buying and selling of Grammy trophies is not allowed.
