The Donegal Intermediate Football Championship (abbreviated as Donegal IFC) is an annual Gaelic football, football competition organised by Donegal GAA. CLG An Clochán Liath, An Clochán Liath are the title holders (2022) defeating CLG Naomh Columba, Naomh Columba in the Final. History The competition has been won by 27 clubs, 13 of which have won it more than once. CLG An Clochán Liath is a Gaelic football only Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA club based in An Clochán Liath, a Gaeltacht town in County Donegal, County Donegal, Ireland. Michael Boyle (footballer)
Michael Boyle (born 1986/7) is an Irish sportsperson and Gaelic football coach. He plays with his local club Termon and also, formerly, for the Donegal county team. Educated at St Eunan's College in Letterkenny, he was his county's number one goalkeeper in the past, though Paul Durcan had something to say about that. Boyle has also played soccer for Finn Harps in the League of Ireland. Playing career College Boyle studied Sports Science and Health at Dublin City University (DCU). Boyle won the Sigerson Cup twice in 2010 and 2012 with the DCU GAA team. He was goalkeeper on both occasions, on the team that beat UCC in the 2010 final and the team that beat Maynooth in the 2012 final. St Michael's (''CLG Naomh Mícheál'') is a GAA club based in Creeslough/ Dunfanaghy in County Donegal. Located in the north of the county, the club is affected by rural issues such as low population and emigration; despite this they play at the top level in the Donegal Senior Football Championship and opened a new clubhouse in 2010. Donegal Senior Football Championship
The Donegal Senior Football Championship (abbreviated as Donegal SFC) is an annual football competition organised by Donegal GAA and contested by the highest-level clubs, to determine the best team in County Donegal. Since 2016, it has been known as Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Donegal SFC after its headline sponsor. Initially a straight knock-out competition, the Donegal SFC added a round-robin group stage in 2013. The final is played at MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey. The winning club qualifies to represent its county in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship, the winners of which go on to compete in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. The winning club receives the Dr Maguire Cup. The competition has been won by 17 clubs, 14 of which have won it more than once. In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Brian Roper (Gaelic Footballer)
Brian Roper (born 1974/5) is an American Gaelic footballer who has lived in Ireland most of his life, and who played for Aodh Ruadh and the Donegal county team. Roper preferred to play centre-forward, but tended to play at wing-forward for Donegal. Brian McEniff described him as one of the best forwards in the country for the best part of a decade and a half. He won an Ulster Under-21 Football Championship. Niall McCready is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for Aodh Ruadh and the Donegal county team. He won an Ulster Under-21 Football Championship medal with Donegal in 1995. He started the first game of Brian McEniff's last spell as Donegal manager, a league defeat to Galway in Tuam in February 2003. Michael Lynch (Gaelic Footballer)
Michael Lynch (born 1996/7) is an Irish goalkeeper who plays Gaelic football for Gaoth Dobhair (and formerly Naomh Colmcille) and for the Donegal county team. He is from St Johnston. Playing career Lynch played at midfield in Naomh Colmcille's run to the 2015 Donegal Intermediate Football Championship final, which the club lost to Réalt na Mara. He began the campaign as a substitute for the injured Ryan McErlean in the first minute of Naomh Colmcille's win in the quarter-final of that competition. Lynch played his club football in midfield for Naomh Colmcille before transferring to Gaoth Dobhair in 2020. Peter Boyle is an Irish Gaelic footballer who has played as a goalkeeper for Aodh Ruadh and the Donegal county team. Frank McGlynn (Gaelic Footballer)
Frank McGlynn (born 1985) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Glenfin and who played for the Donegal county team between 2006 and 2019. In 2015, Pat Spillane included McGlynn in his top 40 footballers in the game today. He won one All Star, one All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and five Ulster Senior Football Championships with his county.
