Donald Wood
Donald Paul Wood (March 22, 1933 – July 7, 2015) was a Canadian politician and a businessman and farmer. He was elected to the House of Commons of Canada as a Member of the Liberal Party in a 1977 by-election, after the resignation of Tory Angus MacLean on October 20, 1976. During this time, he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Regional Economic Expansion. He lost the 1979 election to Melbourne Gass. He lost the 1968 election to the Hon. Angus MacLean. He also sat as a member of various standing committees including Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and Public Accounts ''Public Account'' was a weekly political programme first transmitted on 6 January 1975 by BBC Television in Scotland. Progressive Conservative Party Of Canada
The Progressive Conservative Party of Canada (PC; french: Parti progressiste-conservateur du Canada) was a centre-right federal political party in Canada that existed from 1942 to 2003. From Canadian Confederation in 1867 until 1942, the original Conservative Party of Canada participated in numerous governments and had multiple names. In 1942, its name was changed to the Progressive Conservative Party under the request of Manitoba Progressive Premier John Bracken. In the 1957 federal election, John Diefenbaker carried the Tories to their first victory in 27 years. The year after, he carried the PCs to the largest federal electoral landslide in history (in terms of proportion of seats). In Canada, a standing committee is a permanent committee established by Standing Orders in the House of Commons or the Senate. It may study matters referred to it by special order or, within its area of responsibility in the Standing Orders, may undertake studies on its own initiative. The House of Commons of Canada (french: Chambre des communes du Canada) is the lower house of the Parliament of Canada. Together with the Crown and the Senate of Canada, they comprise the bicameral legislature of Canada.
