Donaghmore/Ashbourne GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Ashbourne in County Meath, Ireland. The club competes in Meath competitions. The team was founded in 1923 under the name Donaghmore but was renamed Donaghmore/Ashbourne in 1996 to reflect the increased number of players and supporters from Ashbourne. The club has won 3 Meath Senior Football Championship. History The club was founded under the name Donaghmore in 1923 in the townland 3 km south of Ashbourne. The club won three Senior Football Championships in 1927, 1928 and 1942. Ashbourne, historically called ''Killeglan'' or ''Kildeglan'' (), is a town in County Meath, Ireland. Located about 20 km north of Dublin and close to the M2 motorway, Ashbourne is a commuter town within Greater Dublin. The Meath County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste na Mí) or Meath GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Meath, as well as for Meath county teams. Football County team The first notable Meath team was the Pierce O'Mahony's club from Navan that represented the county in the All-Ireland final of 1895, in the days when the competition was played between the champion clubs from each county. O'Mahony's lost to Arravale Rovers of Tipperary by 0-4 to 0-3. The Meath Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in Meath, Ireland. Qualification for subsequent competitions The winners of the Meath Senior Football Championship winners qualify to represent their county in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Competition format From 2020, 16 teams compete in the championship, with four groups of four teams. The top two finishers in each group qualify for the quarter-finals. The bottom two teams in each group progress to the relegation playoffs. The overall loser in the relegation playoffs gets relegated to the Intermediate Division. Meath Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association second-tier competition between Gaelic football clubs organised by Meath GAA. The winning club is promoted to the Meath Senior Football Championship. In the 2021 final, Trim defeated Oldcastle. Each year, the final takes place in Pairc Tailteann, Navan. The winning club competes in the Leinster Intermediate Club Football Championship. The current (2021) champions are Trim. 2007 Meath Intermediate Football Championship
The 2007 Meath Intermediate Football Championship is the 81st edition of the Meath GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for intermediate graded teams in County Meath, Ireland. The tournament consists of 16 teams, with the winner going on to represent Meath in the Leinster Intermediate Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. This was Cortown's first year in this grade since 1996, after 10 years in the Senior grade since being relegated in 2006. On 21 October 2007, Donaghmore/Ashbourne claimed their 4th Intermediate championship title when they defeated Castletown 1-15 to 1-11, succeeding Rathkenny as Intermediate champions. Skryne GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Village of Skryne, in County Meath, Ireland. The club mainly plays Gaelic Football. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Skryne has the second most Meath Senior Football Championship titles after Navan O Mahony's. Every All-Ireland Winning Meath team has had a Skryne player as a panel member. Duleek/Bellewstown is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Duleek, in County Meath, Ireland. The club plays football in Meath GAA competitions.
