Donaghmede
Donaghmede () is a residential suburb on the northern side of Dublin, Republic of Ireland, Ireland, formed from parts of Baldoyle, Coolock and Raheny in the 1970s. It contains a mid-size shopping centre and a ruined chapel, and lies within the jurisdiction of Dublin City Council. Location Donaghmede is situated approximately to the north east of the Dublin city centre, and is in the constituency of Dublin Bay North (Dáil constituency), Dublin Bay North. It lies within the jurisdiction of Dublin City Council and the postal district Dublin 13. Donaghmede lies west of Baldoyle from which it was largely formed, north of Raheny, east of Coolock and Balgriffin and south of Portmarnock. In the northern part of Donaghmede is the Grange Stream, running in culvert from western Donaghmede, past Grange Abbey and flowing into the Mayne River in northern Baldoyle. Baldoyle
Baldoyle () is a coastal suburb of Dublin's Northside (Dublin), northside. It is located in the southeastern part of the jurisdiction of Fingal, Republic of Ireland, Ireland, developed from a former fishing village. Baldoyle is also a Civil parishes in Ireland, civil parish in the Barony (Ireland), barony of Coolock (barony), Coolock within the historic County Dublin. Location and access Baldoyle is located north east of the city, and borders Donaghmede, which was formed from its western part, Portmarnock, Sutton and Bayside. Howth Junction & Donaghmede Railway Station
Howth Junction & Donaghmede railway station ( ga, Stáisiún Ghabhal Bhinn Éadair agus Dhomhnach Míde) serves the area of Donaghmede, and parts of Kilbarrack in Dublin, Ireland. One entrance is located in Donaghmede, the other in Kilbarrack, and it is where the line to Howth branches off the Belfast–Dublin line, making it the key exchange station on the northern section of the DART suburban railway system. History Howth Junction station opened on 1 October 1848. 2021 assault A woman was knocked onto a rail track at the station around 9pm on 1 April 2021. CCTV of the incident circulated on social media. It showed teens standing on the platform. When one woman ran by, two teens attempted to shove her, one of them moving his bike into her path. Balgriffin
Balgriffin ( ga, Baile Ghrífín, meaning "Griffin's town") is a suburb of Dublin, Ireland. It lies within southern Fingal in the traditional County Dublin and it is partly in the jurisdiction of Dublin City Council and partly that of Fingal County Council. Grange Abbey
Grange Abbey is a ruined chapel on the former ''Grange of Baldoyle'' lands, in the townland of Baldoyle, now in Donaghmede, at the northern edge of Dublin, Ireland. It belonged to the Priory of All Hallows and then, from 1539, to Dublin Corporation. Disused by 1630, it was later noted as a "picturesque ruin" and was registered as a National Monument. It was part-restored in the mid-1980s, and archaeological works were carried out in 1986 and 1999. History The Priory of All Hallows (or All Saints) was founded by the King of Leinster, Diarmuid MacMurrough in 1166, just outside Dublin city, and to support it he gifted to Edan, the Bishop of Louth, the lands of Baldoyle with their existing tenants (and it is later noted that the priory had the rights to wrecks on the Baldoyle coast also). Coolock () is a large suburban area, centred on a village, on Dublin city's Northside (Dublin), Northside in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Coolock is crossed by the Santry River, a prominent feature in the middle of the district, with a linear park and ponds. Father Collins Park
Father Collins Park ( ga, Páirc Athair Ó Coileáin ) is a public park located in Dublin, Ireland, near the boundary of Dublin city and Fingal. Its official address is Donaghmede, and it is located near the new development at Clongriffin, with Balgriffin a little to the west. It is owned and managed by Dublin City Council. Dublin Area Rapid Transit
The Dublin Area Rapid Transit system (stylised as DART) is an electrified commuter rail railway network serving the coastline and city of Dublin, Ireland. The service makes up the core of Dublin's suburban railway network, stretching from Greystones, County Wicklow, in the south to Howth and Malahide in north County Dublin. The DART serves 31 stations and consists of 53 route kilometres of electrified railway (46 km double track, 7 km single), and carries in the region of 20 million passengers per year. Raheny
Raheny () is a northern suburb of Dublin, Ireland, halfway from the city centre to Howth. It is centred on a historic settlement, first documented in 570 CE ( Mervyn Archdall). The district shares Dublin's two largest municipal parks, Saint Anne's Park and Bull Island with its 4.5 km beach, with neighbouring Clontarf, and is crossed by several small watercourses. Clongriffin Railway Station
Clongriffin railway station (Irish: ''Stáisiún Chluain Ghrifín'') is a station at the western edge of Clongriffin on the northern section of the (DART), also accessible from Myrtle Avenue in Baldoyle and also serving other parts of northern Donaghmede, and Balgriffin. Location Clongriffin railway station is situated along the Dublin–Belfast railway line between Portmarnock railway station and Howth Junction. History The railway station was created as a part of the ''Northern Fringe Development'' plan and has been in operation since 19 April 2010. Facilities There are two active platforms. A line splits off south of the station to provision a third platform, merging back just to the north; this platform is not in use. The ticket office is open from 6 AM to 9 PM, Monday to Friday. Dublin postal districts have been used by Ireland's postal service, known as '' An Post'', to sort mail in Dublin. The system is similar to that used in cities in Europe and North America until they adopted national postal code systems in the 1960s and 1970s.
