Wallace Worsley
Wallace A. Worsley, Sr. (December 8, 1878 – March 26, 1944) was an American stage actor who became a film director in the silent era. During his career, Worsley directed 29 films and acted in 7 films. He directed several motion pictures starring Lon Chaney Sr., and his professional relationship with the actor was the best Chaney had, second to his partnership with Tod Browning. ''The Hunchback of Notre Dame'' (1923) is one of his best-known works, along with '' The Penalty'' (1920). Worsley's 1922 horror film ''A Blind Bargain'' with Chaney is one of the most sought after lost films. Acting In April 1901 Worsely appeared at the Empire Theatre (41st Street) as Lt. Josephine Boneparte Crowell (January 11, 1859 – July 27, 1932) was a Canadian film actress of the silent era. She appeared in more than 90 films between 1912 and 1929. Biography Crowell was born in Nova Scotia. Crowell debuted in the theater in 1879, and she appeared on Broadway as Mrs. Pitcher in ''Captain Mollhy'' (1902). She began her film acting career in the 1912 film ''The School Teacher and the Waif''. By 1919, she had appeared in 50 films, many of which were film shorts. Her notable film appearances during this period were in the early films of D.W. Richard Tucker (June 4, 1884 – December 5, 1942) was an American actor. Tucker was born in Brooklyn, New York. Appearing in more than 260 films between 1911 and 1940, he was the first official member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and a founding member of SAG's Board of Directors. Tucker died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles from a heart attack. He is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in an unmarked niche in Great Mausoleum, Columbarium of Faith.
