Marie Josephine Marguerite Blais (born September 12, 1950) is a Canadian politician, journalist, radio host and television host from Quebec. She is currently a Coalition Avenir Québec Member of the National Assembly of Québec and is the current Minister Responsible for Seniors and Informal Caregivers and Member of the Comité ministériel des services aux citoyens since October 2018. René Préval
René Garcia Préval (; 17 January 1943 – 3 March 2017) was a Haitian politician and agronomist who served twice as President of Haiti; once from early 1996 to early 2001, and again from mid 2006 to mid 2011. He was also Prime Minister from early to late 1991 under the presidency of Jean-Bertrand Aristide. Jean-Bertrand Aristide
Jean-Bertrand Aristide (born 15 July 1953) is a Haitian former Salesian priest and politician who became Haiti's first democratically elected president. A proponent of liberation theology, Aristide was appointed to a parish in Port-au-Prince in 1982 after completing his studies to become a priest. He became a focal point for the pro-democracy movement first under Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier and then under the military transition regime which followed. He won the 1990–91 Haitian general election, with 67% of the vote. As a priest, he taught liberation theology and, as a president, he attempted to normalize Afro-Creole culture, including Vodou religion, in Haiti. Georges Anglade
Georges Anglade (July 18, 1944 – January 12, 2010) was a Haitian–Canadian geographer, professor, writer and politician. Early life and education Anglade was born in Port-au-Prince. In 1965, he received a law degree and a diploma in Social Sciences from the Faculty of Law from the École normale supérieure in Port-au-Prince. He studied at the University of Strasbourg from 1965 to 1969, where he obtained a degree of literature in 1967 and doctorate of Geography in 1969. He came to Montreal in 1969 and was one of the founders of the Université du Québec à Montréal. Career He was head of the UQAM department of geography from 1982 to 1984, served two terms as head of the graduate program, and was a professor of social geography until 2002. Vivian Barbot
Vivian Barbot (born July 7, 1941) is a Canadian teacher, activist, and politician. She is a former president of the Fédération des femmes du Québec, a former Member of Parliament and former vice-president of the Bloc Québécois. She was the party's interim leader and president following the resignation of Gilles Duceppe in May 2011. Barbot became the first person of a visible minority group to lead a Canadian federal political party with parliamentary representation. Barbot was born in Saint-Marc, Haiti. She is the former Member of Parliament for the riding of Papineau. Helge Seetzen (born June 23, 1978) is a German technologist and businessman known for imaging & multimedia research and commercialization. Seetzen was active in the development of high dynamic range imaging (HDR) technology and several of his patents cover aspects of this technology.
