Dolly Skilbeck
Dolly Skilbeck (also Acaster) is a fictional character from the Television in the United Kingdom, British television soap opera ''Emmerdale''. Dolly made her first on-screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 22 February 1977. The character was initially played by Katharine Barker (actress), Katharine Barker, before Jean Rogers took over the role in 1980. She remained in the role until her departure from ''Emmerdale'' in 1991. Dolly is characterised as kind, generous and a homemaker. She is a "townie" from Darlington who arrives in Beckindale to work at the local pub, The Woolpack. Writers quickly developed a romance with Matt Skilbeck (Frederick Pyne). He was a widower and had previously has two children that had died. Writers shifted this tragic arc onto his relationship with Dolly as her pregnancies lead to further trauma. Katharine Barker (born 10 March 1941 in Sedbergh, Yorkshire) is an English people, English actress. She played Dolly Skilbeck in ''Emmerdale, Emmerdale Farm'' from 1977 until 1979, when Jean Rogers took over the role. Ronald Edmund Magill (21 April 1920 – 6 September 2007) was an English actor. He is best remembered for playing Amos Brearly in the British soap opera ''Emmerdale'' from the first episode in 1972 to 1991, and appeared again in this role in 1994 and 1995. Early life Magill was born in 1920 in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire. The child of two teachers, his father died when he was aged 9 and he then grew up in an orphanage in Birmingham, visiting his mother in Ireland during the holidays. After leaving school he became a tyre salesman. During World War II Magill served in the Royal Corps of Signals and was a member of " Stars in Battledress". In Egypt he helped build a theatre where the company staged plays. Stage career Following the war, Magill worked with the Arena Theatre Company and rep. David Horovitch
David Horovitch (born 11 August 1945) is an English actor, perhaps best known for playing the character of Inspector Slack in ''Miss Marple''. The ''Daily Express'' is a national daily United Kingdom middle-market newspaper printed in tabloid format. Published in London, it is the flagship of Express Newspapers, owned by publisher Reach plc. It was first published as a broadsheet in 1900 by Sir Arthur Pearson.
