David Horovitch
David Horovitch (born 11 August 1945) is an English actor, perhaps best known for playing the character of Inspector Slack in ''Miss Marple''. He stars in the '' Game of Thrones'' prequel series ''House of the Dragon'' as Grand Maester Mellos. Early life Horovitch was born in London, the son of Alice Mary, a teacher, and Morris Horovitch, a child care worker. He was educated at St Christopher School, a boarding independent school in the town of Letchworth Garden City in Hertfordshire, followed by the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Horovitch's father was Jewish but atheist and married a non-Jew, and Horovitch was not brought up in the faith. He was in his 40s when he was given a string of Jewish roles and started learning about the religion. St Christopher School is a boarding and day co-educational independent school in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, England. Established in 1915, shortly after Ebenezer Howard founded Letchworth Garden City, the school is a long-time proponent of progressive education. Westbeach
''Westbeach'' is a British television series produced by Witzend Productions for the BBC in 1993. The series was set in the fictional seaside town of Westbeach (filmed on location in Eastbourne) and dealt with two rival families, the Cromers and the Prestons, who controlled the local businesses. The Preston family owned an upmarket seafront hotel, while the Cromers ran an amusement arcade and a fish-and-chip shop. One series of ten episodes was produced. ''The Times'' described the "dismal performance" of the BBC's three new flagships dramas which included ''Westbeach'', the programme only achieved 6.27 million viewers and was ranked 69th. ''Deceit'' is a British television mystery thriller miniseries, based on the 1993 novel of the same name by Clare Francis, that first broadcast on BBC One on 2 April 2000. Stuart Orme served as director, while Nicolas Brown served as producer. The miniseries, which stars Francesca Annis, Peter O'Brien and Christopher Fulford, follows housewife Ellen Richmond (Annis), whose husband mysteriously disappears after going out sailing on his yacht. The series was partly filmed in and around Ipswich. Critical reception to the series was positive. The series was remade as an American television movie with the same title in 2004.
