Dobrovíz
Dobrovíz is a municipality and village in Prague-West District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 600 inhabitants. The village has well preserved folk architecture and is protected by law as a Cultural monument (Czech Republic)#Monument reservations, village monument reservation. Geography Dobrovíz is located about west of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape of the Prague Plateau. History The first written mention of Dobrovíz is from 1238, when the village was donated to the Zderaz Monastery in what is today New Town, Prague, Prague-New Town. For a short time, there was a fortress, but it was probably destroyed during the Hussite Wars. From 1447 to 1621, Dobrovíz was owned by the Kolowrat family as a part of the Buštěhrad estate. Obec (plural: ''obce'') is the Czech language, Czech and Slovak language, Slovak word for a municipality (in the Czech Republic, in Slovakia and abroad). New Town, Prague
The New Town ( cs, Nové Město) is a quarter in the city of Prague in the Czech Republic. New Town is the youngest and largest of the five independent (from the Middle Ages until 1784) towns that today comprise the historic center of modern Prague. New Town was founded in 1348 by Charles IV just outside the city walls to the east and south of the Old Town and encompassed an area of 7.5 km²; about three times the size of the Old Town. The population of Prague in 1378 was well over 40,000, perhaps as much as twice that, making it the 4th most populated city north of the Alps and, by area, the 3rd largest city in Europe. Buštěhrad () is a town in Kladno District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,700 inhabitants. Etymology The settlement was originally named Buščeves, which was derived from ''Buškova ves'' (i.e. "Bušek's village"). After the village became a town, the name was changed to Buckow and the local castle was called Buštěhrad (meaning "Bušek's castle"). Hussite Wars
The Hussite Wars, also called the Bohemian Wars or the Hussite Revolution, were a series of civil wars fought between the Hussites and the combined Catholic forces of Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund, the Papacy, European monarchs loyal to the Catholic Church, as well as various Hussite factions. At a late stage of the conflict, the Utraquists changed sides in 1432 to fight alongside Roman Catholics and opposed the Taborites and other Hussite spinoffs.
