Dobongsan
Dobongsan is a mountain in Bukhansan National Park, South Korea. It extends across Seoul, the national capital, and the cities of Yangju and Uijeongbu, in the province of Gyeonggi-do. It has an elevation of . Nearby Dobongsan Station is named after it. It is known for the magnificent rock formations of the Manjang-bong, Seonin-bong, Ju-bong, O-bong and Uiam-bong Peaks. The Seonin-bong summit has 37 hiking courses connecting to it, including the famous Bakjwi (Bat) Course. The mountain is also home to Cheonchuk-sa Buddhist Temple, the oldest temple in the region, and several other temples including Mangwol-sa, Wonhyo-sa and Hoeryong-sa, as well as a number of beautiful valleys called Donong, Songchu, Obong and Yeongeo-cheon. Bukhansan National Park
The Bukhansan National Park ( ko, 북한산국립공원, 北漢山國立公園) in Seoul and Gyeonggi covers an area of and was established on 2 April 1983. Bukhansan means "mountains north of the Han River." The park contains forested areas, temples and granite peaks. The three main peaks are Baekundae, , Insubong, and Mangnyeongdae, . Due to its popularity with hikers and Seoul residents, some trails are closed on a rotation basis to protect the local environment. The Bukhansanseong Fortress is located in the park, together with its long defensive wall. A fortress was first built on this site in 132 AD to protect Seoul from foreign invasions, and it was expanded to its current size in 1711. It was reconstructed after damage sustained in the Korean War. Despite its name, this mountain is in Seoul, South Korea, so this mountain should not be confused with North Korea (also referred to as 북한, ''bukhan''). Uijeongbu
Uijeongbu () is a Administrative divisions of South Korea, city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Overview Uijeongbu is located north of the Korean capital Seoul; it lies inside a Defile (geography), defile, with mountains on two sides, and commands a natural choke point across the main traditional invasion route from the North into Seoul. As such it has a continued military significance and it contains U.S. and Korean military bases, positioned for the defense of the Korean capital. The 2nd Infantry Division (United States), U.S. Second Infantry Division has established a headquarters post in Uijeongbu, with the main troops being deployed from Dongducheon city. US Military bases in Uijeongbu have since closed. Yangju
Yangju () is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Yangju is located south of Dongducheon and north of Uijeongbu, not far from Seoul. History * 1395 - Renamed to Yangju. * January 1, 1963 - Uijeongbu is separated and becomes a city. * April 1, 1980 - Namyangju is separated and becomes a city. * July 1, 1981 - Dongducheon is separated and becomes a city. Attractions Yangju is home to the Jangheun Art Gallery, which features six exhibition halls and includes subsidiary facilities such as outdoor performances and outdoor sculptures. Yangju also has an astronomical observatory and planetarium that is open to the public.
