Doamna Stanca
Doamna Stanca (died 1603) was a princess consort of Wallachia, Transylvania and Moldavia as the wife of Michael the Brave.George Marcu (coord.), Dicționarul personalităților feminine din România, Editura Meronia, București, 2009. Tradition says that they were married in the Proieni church, Vâlcea County, in 1584. In 1600, the sometime master of Făgăraș Citadel, Michael the Brave, gave the castle and the Făgăraș domain to Doamna Stanca. He retreated there after the defeat at Mirăslău (18/28 September 1600) and sheltered his family there until 1601. Doamna Stanca settled there with their two children, Nicolae Pătrașcu and Lady Florica. Michael built a church for his family in the southern part of the city. Michael The Brave
Michael the Brave ( ro, Mihai Viteazul or ; 1558 – 9 August 1601), born as Mihai Pătrașcu, was the Prince of Wallachia (as Michael II, 1593 – 1601), Prince of Moldavia (1600) and ''de facto'' ruler of Transylvania (1599 – 1600). He is considered one of Romania's greatest national heroes. Since the 19th century, Michael the Brave has been regarded by Romanian nationalists as a symbol of Romanian unity, as his reign marked the first time all principalities inhabited by Romanians were under the same ruler. His rule over Wallachia began in the autumn of 1593. Făgăraș Citadel ( ro, Cetatea Făgărașului , hu, Fogarasi vár, german: Fogarascher Burg) is a historic monument in Făgăraș, Brașov County, Romania. The construction of the fortress started in 1310, on the site of a wooden fortification with earth ramparts from the 12th century. Archeological research shows that the old fortification was violently destroyed around the middle of the 13th century, presumably in connection with the Mongol invasion of 1241. Located halfway between Brașov and Sibiu and close to Wallachia, the Făgăraș Citadel provided a defensive position against possible incursions into south-eastern Transylvania. Battle Of Mirăslău
The Battle of Mirăslău, or Battle of Miriszló, took place on September 18, 1600, near Miriszló ( ro, Mirăslău), Transylvania, between the Wallachian troops led by Michael the Brave supported by ethnic Hungarian Szeklers and the troops of Austrian general Giorgio Basta supported by the Hungarian nobility of Transylvania. In 1599, Michael took control of Transylvania after the Battle of Șelimbăr. In autumn 1599, Michael was elected prince of Transylvania by the Estates of the country. Although the Emperor Rudolf II wanted Michael and his general Basta to govern Transylvania together, Michael, the ''de facto'' ruler, despised Basta from their initial meetings. Nicolae Pătrașcu, Petrașco, or Petrașcu, also styled Nicolae Vo(i)evod ( Church Slavonic and Romanian Cyrillic: or ; ca. 1580 – late 1627), was the titular Prince of Wallachia, an only son of Michael the Brave and Lady Stanca, and a putative grandson of Pătrașcu the Good. His early childhood coincided with Michael's quick rise through the ranks of boyardom, peaking in 1593, when Michael became Prince and Nicolae his heir apparent.
