Do You Love Me (film)
is a 1946 Technicolor musical film directed by Gregory Ratoff and starring Maureen O'Hara and Dick Haymes. The film features band leader Harry James and his Orchestra (the Music Makers). Betty Grable makes a surprise cameo at the end of the film. At the time Harry James was married to Betty Grable. Plot summary Jimmy Hale, a successful singer, chases Katharine "Kitten" Hilliard, a prim music-school dean who transforms herself into a desirable, sophisticated lady after traveling to the big city. Trumpeter and bandleader Barry Clayton also pursues Katharine. Gregory Ratoff
Gregory Ratoff (born Grigory Vasilyevich Ratner; russian: Григорий Васильевич Ратнер, tr. ; April 20, c. 1893 – December 14, 1960) was a Russian-born American film director, actor and producer. As an actor, he was best known for his role as producer "Max Fabian" in ''All About Eve'' (1950). Biography Ratoff was born in Samara, Russia, to Jewish parents. His mother was Sophie (née Markison) who claimed to have been born on September 1, 1878, but was married on June 14, 1894, when she would have been 15, to Benjamin Ratner (born 1864), with whom she had four children, the eldest of whom was Grigory, whose date of birth she gave as April 7, 1895 but later April 20 was cited as Gregory Ratoff's birthdate, and the year given as 1893, 1896 and 1897, variously. Technicolor is a series of Color motion picture film, color motion picture processes, the first version dating back to 1916, and followed by improved versions over several decades. Richard Houston Gaines (July 23, 1904 – July 20, 1975) was an American actor. He appeared in over 75 film and television productions between 1940 and 1962. Early years Gaines was born in Indian Territory and grew up in Texas, learning "to handle the ax, the plough, and the lariat". He enrolled at Texas Christian University when he was 16 and studied drama there. While a student there he acted in productions of little theaters in Dallas and Fort Worth. He worked at a variety of jobs in the United States and in France before winning a scholarship to study at the American Laboratory Theatre.
