Djurgårdens IF Basket, also known as simply Djurgården, is a Swedish basketball club based in Stockholm. It is the basketball section of the Djurgårdens IF multi-sports club, established in 1891. In 2019, Djurgården won the Superettan, Sweden's second tier league, and thus promoted to the first tier Basketligan for the first time. Basketligan
Svenska Basketligan, or the Swedish Basketball League (SBL), is the premier league for professional basketball in Sweden. The league was originally established in 1992 as Basketligan and was known as that prior to the season of 2006–07, but when the Swedish company Obol Investment signed an agreement with the Swedish Basketball Federation in early October 2006, the league was renamed Obol Basketball League (OBL). In January 2007 the name was changed to Ligan, meaning simply the League. History On October 6, 2006, the Swedish Basketball Federation signed a 15-year agreement with Swiss company Obol Investment. Part of the deal was that ''Basketligan'' would be renamed ''Obol Basketball League''. Superettan is the second-tier league of men's professional basketball in Sweden. The league was established in 2017 and replaced the Basketettan as the second level. Djurgårdens Idrottsförening, commonly known simply as Djurgårdens IF, Djurgården (), and (especially locally) Djurgår'n (), Dif or DIF – is a Swedish sports association with several sections, located in Stockholm. Name The club is named after the City Park and borough Djurgården, which originally was a royal hunting park. A direct translation of ''Djurgården'' would be “the animal garden” or "the animal yard". Bryan Anton Alberts (born December 29, 1994) is an American-Dutch professional basketball player. He played two seasons of college basketball with Long Beach State and three seasons in the Gonzaga University men's basketball program. College career Alberts arrived at Gonzaga in 2014, redshirting his first season due to injury. In April 2017, Alberts reached the NCAA Division I Championship Game with Gonzaga. Shortly after the end of that season, Alberts announced that he planned to transfer from Gonzaga. Yannick Anzuluni (born August 21, 1988) is a Canadian professional basketballer, who played for Rostock Seawolves of the German ProA league. Previously, when he played with Tampereen Pyrintö (basketball), Tampereen Pyrintö team in the Finnish First Division, he was an All-Star, led the league in scoring and steals, and was named Player of the Year. Obinna Oleka (born November 4, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for Piratas de La Guaira of the Venezuelan Basketball League. He played college basketball at Arizona State.
