Djerring Trail
__NOTOC__ The Djerring Trail is a shared use path that runs alongside the Cranbourne and Pakenham railway lines in south-eastern Melbourne, Australia. The route serves a total of 13 railway stations. History The Djerring Trail was built as a part of the Level Crossing Removal Project, that removed all level crossings between Caufield and Dandenong by raising the rail. 12 kilometres of the new shared path was built, along with existing paths merged into the new ones to form the Djerring Trail. In early 2018, a community vote was held to determine the name of the new path, some alternative options being Kerrboo onool Trail, Urban Parkland Trail, and Eucalyptus Trail. Over 1800 votes were counted. On 26 September 2018, it was revealed that the name 'Djerring trail' had a clear win, taking 30% of the total vote, and its counterpart 'Djerring Rail Trail' came in second, which meant that the name 'Djerring' was clearly preferred. Yarraman Railway Station
Yarraman railway station is a relatively minor commuter railway station on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines of the metropolitan railway network in Victoria, Australia, located about from the Melbourne CBD. Opening on 21 December 1976, it serves the southeastern Melbourne suburb of Noble Park, and is named after the nearby Yarraman Creek, a first-order tributary of the lower Dandenong Creek/Patterson River system. To allow construction of the station, the existing track towards Flinders Street was slewed in 1974. During construction, an alternative name for the station, Fotheringham, a notable local family, was suggested. The EastLink toll road is located at the down (southeastern) end of the station, crossing via an overpass across the railway line, Railway Parade and Hanna Street. Gardiners Creek Trail
__NOTOC__ The Gardiners Creek Trail is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which follows Gardiners Creek through the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Bicycle Victoria is campaigning for a connection between Winton Road and Warrigal Road, to complete the gap in the trail at this point. It is proposed that the path would continue along the creek parallel to the Malvern Public Golf Course, spanning the gap from Winton Road to Warrigal Road. Following the path The path begins as a branch of the Main Yarra Trail, opposite St Kevin's College and Scotch College, close to Kooyong railway station (on the Glen Waverley line); between the suburbs of Toorak, Hawthorn, and Kooyong. EastLink (Melbourne)
EastLink is a tolled section of the M3 freeway linking a large area through the eastern and south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. EastLink is electronically tolled with no cash booths, using a system developed by SICE. The SICE Tolling System is similar to (and interoperable with) the ''e-TAG'' system used on the CityLink tollway. EastLink was opened to traffic on Sunday 29 June 2008 and in conjunction with the opening, a month-long toll-free period occurred before regular tolling commenced on 27 July 2008. The project was constructed by a joint venture of Australian construction companies Thiess Contractors and John Holland, with tolling system contracted to SICE, and mechanical and electrical work contracted to United Group Infrastructure. Sandown Raceway
Sandown International Raceway is a motor racing circuit in the suburb of Springvale in Melbourne, Victoria, approximately south east of the city centre. Sandown is considered a power circuit with its " drag strip" front and back straights being and long respectively. History Sandown Racecourse was first built as a horse racing facility, dating back into the 19th century, but closed in the 1930s in a government run rationalisation program. Redevelopment began not long after World War II. A bitumen motor racing circuit was built around the outside of the proposed horse track (which was not completed until 1965) and was first opened in 1962 and held the race which became the Sandown 500 for the first time in 1964. Outer Circle Trail
__NOTOC__ The Outer Circle Trail, also known as the Anniversary Trail, Anniversary Outer Circle Trail, or even the Outer Circle Anniversary Trail, is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which partly follows the Alamein Line through the inner eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The trail follows the right-of-way of the old steam era Outer Circle Line. It runs from the Yarra River Trail near the Eastern Freeway at Fairfield, down to Hughesdale Station in the south. The Outer Circle train line opened in 1891. Parts of the trail were opened 100 years later in 1991, hence the Anniversary. It is heavily used by local residents and recreational cyclists, due to its proximity to other paths, many suburbs, and connecting transport.
